– A LOUD, RATHER UNGRACEFUL POUNDING BROUGHT REGINA TO THE DOOR. She might have been more reluctant to open it had she not already known who stood on the other side. Neither bothered with formalities when she opened the door. Neither wanted anything more than to spit venom in the other's direction. David. He sauntered inside, hat in hand.

"Tell me about this."

"Surprised you don't have armed guards round the clock." she snipped.

"Don't need them. We both know if you step outside, there's a line a mile long for your head."

She raised a brow. "Who's going to risk coming at me?"

"Take your chances, then." he shrugged. "But I think that little wallpaper trick was an anomaly. If you had your abilities back, this town would be charcoal by now. You're having problems with magic, aren't you?" She glared at him, but that didn't change what they both knew: that he was right, and that could become a very big problem for her in the very near future. "The only thing keeping you alive right now is that a girl with a fire-breathing dragon wishes it. She's the one they don't wanna mess with. And neither do you, I'm guessing."

There was nothing she could say to deny it. It frightened her, actually. Rayne, or Rhaenyra now, was so incredibly unpredictable. One wrong move and the protection she and Drogon offered could evaporate into thin air. Regina wanted her family back, and yet could not even face the girl she'd once called her daughter. It was all such a mess...

Rhaenyra was not an incredibly kindhearted or nurturing person by nature, but she really was doing her best. Drogon, shrunken down to cat-size, was entertaining some of the children in the town's makeshift crisis centre while the princess answered their questions as best she could and smiled when they were brave enough to reach out to pet the dragon.

When David arrived, the both of them abandoned that endeavour to see what he'd learned, and if they could offer any help. Questions swirled this way and that, Mother Superior said something about things being hopeless without any fairy dust.

"You'll find another way." Henry assured him, referring to getting Emma and Snow back. "In the book things always look worse right before there's good news."

"Terrible news! Terrible news!" Rhaenyra might have laughed at Grumpy's comedic timing had the situation not seemed so dire. Still, she allowed herself an eyeroll at the irony of it. The crowd parted to let the dwarves through. "We were out at the town limits. Tell 'em who you think you are, Sneezy!"

"Oh, will you stop calling me that?" the dwarf snapped. "You know who I am. I'm Tom Clark, I own the Dark Star Pharmacy. What's going on here?" oh, great.
