The shrill sound of Jack's phone ringing woke both of them up with a startle, Jack falling off the couch in a desperate attempt to find and silence his phone and Leena sitting up and groaning, rubbing her eyes. Neither of them had realised they had fallen asleep on each other, but she had her suspicions when she noticed the blankets, now sprawled all over the couch, had covered them both. Jack hastily flipped open his phone and immediately, a painfully loud voice shrieked right next to his face.

"MERRY CHRISTMAS!!"

Jack threw the phone away instinctively at the loud sound, and Leena sighed, crawling off the couch to where the phone now lay, still open.

"Hello, Helen." she muttered, still rubbing her eye with one hand.

"Merry Christmas, Leena! But...isn't this Jack's phone?"

"You scared him away," she stated bluntly. "It's six in the morning and you decided to wake him up  by calling him and screaming horribly into his ear."

"Well, it's Christmas!" Leena could practically see the smile Helen wore. "And who couldn't use a little Christmas spirit?"

"Us." She hung up on her.

Jack slithered back to the couch and once again covered himself with blankets, giving a slight shiver at the cold. He wrapped the cotton sheets closer to his body. "What did she want?"

"For us to feel the Christmas spirit." she dead-panned.

"Oh. Should've known."

"Should've set your phone on silent, you mean." she grumbled, hauling herself up and dragging her feet towards her room. "I'm going back to sleep, don't wake me up until 10."

Jack threw his body across the couch, his head landing on scattered pillows. "Don't worry, I won't even be awake to wake you up."

Just as he began closing his eyes again, another deafening tone rang, and Leena let out a half-screech, slamming her palm into the closest wall and storming to where her bag sat - the source of the sound. She flung her phone open. "Hello?!"

"Um, Leena?"

"Oh. Hi, Owen."

"Hey. Merry Christmas!"

She sighed, resting her forehead on her palm. "Thanks, and Merry Xmas to you too. Is that it?"

"No, actually, I was kinda just wondering-"

"At six in the morning."

"Well yes- no- well-"

"Spit it out."

"Are you free New Year's Eve?" he blurted.

Leena was slightly taken aback. "I should be."

"Then, do you wanna see the meteor shower on the 30th?"

"Um," It's not like she didn't want to, she thought, but she also wasn't desperate. 'Then again,' she pondered. 'I could get inspiration for my next composition.'

"Sure."

"Really?! That's great!"

"Jess or Erica coming?"

"I, um, I invited them," he said, rubbing the back of his neck. "Not sure if they can come though."

"I see."

"Okay." There was an uncomfortable silence. "...Well then, I'll see you at work tomorrow!"

"Yes. Goodbye."
