Chapter 2.
Elle.
Soft sounds interrupted my beautiful slumber as I stirred up from the bed like someone in a daze. My eyelids felt heavy and for a while, I considered keeping them shut a bit longer, I couldn't have slept more than a few minutes right? Yet it was already morning.
"Yes, princess. It's morning." The soft sound of Jane's voice rose me up completely from my slumber,
"Ugh, just a minute Jane." I whined, my eyes still perfectly closed. I heard a low chuckle resonate through her body and the same pooling effect settled deep in my stomach again, what was this strange feeling anyway?
"You know I more than anyone would let you sleep for as long as possible Elle, but you have a stepmother to prepare for. Something you won't be dealing with if you just left this place and moved in with me." She didn't forget to add, I sighed at this, she was right, I had a stepmother to prepare for.
"Uh, thanks for waking me up, I don't know why I wasn't up sooner, I normally wake up immediately after the rats start moving." I said rubbing a tired hand down my face, she giggled at me and my eyes shot open to look at her.
"Oh yeah, about that Elle. I put your little rats to work last night and I think they're still recuperating."
My look turned to one of confusion as I voiced the question in my mind, "Work? What do you mean by work?"
At this, she lifted me off the hard bed like I was as light as a feather and turned me around to face the most beautiful dress I had ever seen. My mouth hung open in astonishment, what the? How did this even get here?
"Your dress for the breakfast with Tremaine's friends came yesterday." She said like that was all the answer I needed.
"Uh...if I know Anastasia well enough, which I'm pretty sure I do since she's my step-sister, she would rather die than give me a dress this beautiful." She only gave me a cute look in return, "So what happened Jane?" I asked the woman who was turning as red as a tomato right in front of me.
Her skin was a clear porcelain white so the blush was pretty darn obvious. "The rats did it." She blurted out and I burst into uncontrollable fits of laughter.
"The rats? Seriously? You can do better than that Jane." I teased, she released a deep sigh, her hands scratching the back of her neck as she said softly.
"Ok, maybe I gave them a little push."
"By little push, I'm guessing you mean, you used your powers to make them the best tailors in Cotswolds?" I asked with a dumbfounded look on my face, she only gave a small nod at this.
Before I could stop myself, I threw myself on her in a tight embrace. Her arms slowly wrapped around my small body as she buried her head in the crook of my neck. "You are the best, Jane. I love you!" I squealed, her eyes never left mine as she lowered herself to my height level,
"You mean that princess?" She asked, I almost choked on air with the raw emotions that were displayed in her eyes, and my smile widened.
"Of course I do." I sniffled, Why was I always so emotional? I just had to cry at every little thing, didn't I?
Our little world of fun and joy was ruined by the loud yelling of my stepmom, "Elle!!!" I was so startled that I quickly jumped off Elle's body grabbing the dress with me,
"I should leave I guess." She said quietly like she didn't want to leave, I didn't want her to go too. I enjoyed her company a lot and she really was the best thing that ever happened to me.
