The only people I own are Irene, Mr. Acoff, and Irene's family. Everyone else besides Mr. Forkle belongs to Rick Riordan. Mr. Forkle belongs to Shannon Messenger.
I went to the door, and put my ear to it, but I heard nothing. I thought about turning the knob but when I tried to pull the door open it didn't budge. Weird. Maybe I actually have to push it to open it instead of pulling? So I tried to pull open the door. Nothing. I checked if the door was locked. It was. I sighed in relief. But when I unlocked it it still didn't open. What??? I ran to get the key but when I got back to the door the lock wasn't there and I could see through the crack that it was locked again. Huh?!? Okay now this is getting a bit creepy. I'm usually not paranoid, but now I'm becoming a bit of a worrywart. Waaaait. That guy on TV. I ran back to the couch and there was the guy sitting on my couch reading one of the books that was on the table.
"Wha, how-, why-"
"What's wrong, cat got your tongue?" The man chuckled. Nice job Irene, let's try for complete words and sentences now.
"How did you get here and who are you?" I blurted out. The man raised an eyebrow at me.
"The same way people usually get to places. I walked in. As for who I am, I can't tell you that." Ugh.
"But I was at the front door the entire time. That's the only way in besides the windows and they're all locked. I would have at least heard you. And by the way-" I put my hands on my hips, "- you're in my house, sitting on my couch, reading one of my books. I think I deserve to know who you are." I crossed my arms.
He started to shake his head. Then he paused, "Fine, you may call me Mr. Forkle." My eyebrows shot up. (I couldn't resist, okay!?)
"Like Mr. Forkle from KOTLC?!" I blurted out. His mouth twitched.
"No, I was just kidding. You can call me Mr. Acoff." he said.
"Okay, so Mr. Acoff, why are you here?"
"Ah, yes. I'm here to warn you about Amos Kane and Sadie and Carter Kane."
"Who?"
"Amos Kane is the leader of the First Nome, and Sadie and Carter Kane are magicians that teach the path of the gods. They recently found out you existed and now some of their team find it fit to, er... exterminate you. Or, at the very least, capture and imprison you."
"Someone wants to kill me?!?" Yeah, I kind of forgot everything else he said.
"Not kill-" Uhh
"That's literally what exterminate means. Actually, I'm pretty sure it means completely destroy, but same thing."
"Okay, fine, yes, someone wants to...kill you," He winced when he said kill, "It's that or surrender to them and be kept in a dark, locked room for the rest of your life."
"There, that wasn't so hard." he glared at me. "Now why do the Kanes want to kill me? Or imprison me?" He hesitated. "If a group wants to kill me or capture me then I think I should know why!" I said.
He sighed and looked down, as if he was thinking about all his life choices. Then he finally answered me.
"You're Chaos' daughter."
