"So I take it that you listened to my option to buy flowers?"
Luz and Hunter were sitting on the couch drinking soda two days later, and Luz gestured to the asters sitting on the windowsill.
"O-oh, yeah, I just.. they look cool, I suppose."
"How much of a hassle was it to get them? Did you have to wrestle the clerk for them?"
"As a matter of fact, no," Hunter shot back. "She was really nice and pretty actually."
"Ah-haaa!" Luz cried as Hunter clapped his hand over his mouth. "She was pretty, huh? What's her naaaaame?"
"None of your buisness," Hunter mumbled, face red as he slid down on the couch. "I shouldn't have told you anything."
"Well, too late now," Luz giggled. "What's she like?"
"She's really kind and helpful. She has a nice smile and good taste in plants."
"Awww, already in love with her I see?"
"I'm not in love!" Hunter snapped. "I just thought she was nice. And besides, how was your time asking out Little Miss Perfect?"
"Well... I got her name!" Luz chirruped. "She's called Amity, a real pretty name if you ask me.. but don't change the subject!"
"Alright, alright! Well done on making the first move," Hunter laughed. "But I don't want you to get the wrong idea though, I only met her once! And what am I supposed to do, ask her to get some coffee with me or something?"
"Uh, yeah? That's EXactly what you do! You have her darn number on that buisness card, rEMEMber?" She gestured to the card Hunter was holding. "Ask the girl out!"
"You ask Amity out!" Hunter shot back.
"Heyheyhey! We're talking about you, remember?"
"Ughh, well what am I supposed to do? I'm probably way out of her leauge."
"Then go back! Win her heart like the giga chad you are!"
"Ha-ha, very funny," Hunter rolled his eyes. "But that's not a bad idea though."
"Seeee? I am a genius!" Luz said smugly. She stood up and put on her coat.
"Hey, where are you off too?" Hunter queried.
"Meeting my new friend Gus at the bookstore! I'm gonna try and recruit him to my Azura cult- I mean, bookclub!" She walked out of the door and called over her shoulder "Good luck loverboy!"
"Shut uuuuup!" Hunter called back.-
Apon Luz's advice, Hunter headed back to the little flower shop down the road.
He shivered in his thin jacket - he could already feel winter approaching. (A/N: ha, ha, ha, Winter? y'know, as in Winter the- i'll shut up now.)
However despite the cold he felt a warm glow inside of him as his eyes met the shop with the rosy glow from the inside.
He opened the door to see the girl sitting behind the counter reading a book about herbs, and she looked up when she heard the door bell ring as Hunter entered and she smiled pleasantly.
"Your back! Do you need assistance with your plants?"
"Ah.. no, I've been taking care of them well. I mean, as well as anyone else would - I mean, it's not as if I haven't left its side or anything hahahhah-"
"Well, that's good!" Willow piped up. "So then, what else do you need?"
Hunter looked down at his feet. Well shoot, he hadn't made it this far.
"Uhm.." Hunter stammered. "I would... like to hear you talk about more plants. They're.. facinating."
Willow's eye's widened and sparkled. "R-really? Golly, no-one's ever been interested in my plant ramblings before. Heh I always thought it annoyed people.. but, of course, yeah! Would you like to come to the back for some tea while we discuss? We don't get a lot of customers, so I doubt anyone would disturb us."
"Uh, sure!"
-
It was probably the most fun Hunter had in a while. Hunter didn't even like tea, but she managed to brew some so good that he managed to drink it all.
It was wonderful talking to her about each other's interests. She shared all her plant obsessions with him, and he shared his love of wolves and Cosmic Frontier to her.
"Really?" Willow said when he explained in depth about Cosmic Frontier. "I'm gonna have to borrow that book when your done with it!"
Warmth spread through Hunter from head to toe. No-one had ever expressed interest in his book series aside from Camila, as she was the one who introduced him to the series. He wanted to share his interests with Willow, he wanted to spend more time with her, but he had no idea how to go about it.
"Ah, shoot!" Willow said suddenly jumping up. "I've gotta meet my dad in ten minutes. I hope that's okay."
"Oh, no, that's fine!" Hunter said.
"Thanks, you're the best Hunter," she said as she pulled her coat on. and walked towards the front door of shop and turned the sign so it said 'closed'.
Hunter followed her out and they came to a crossroad.
"I'm going this way," Willow said as she indicated right.
"Oh, I'm going the other way," Hunter said. "I'll see you, then!"
He started walking left but Willow grabbed his arm.
"Wait, Hunter!" she protested. "I just wanted to say.. I had a really great time with you. I hope we can hang out more sometime."
Hunter's face went fire-truck red. "Mhm!" he awkwardly nodded his head. "Sure! I would li-like that too!"
Willow smiled as she let go. "I'll see you soon then.. friend!" she chucked as she did a goofy salute and turned her way to leave.
See you then, friend, Hunter grinned to himself as he walked home.
