Papai hated leaving Sky. For that very reason they hadn't spent a night alone in months. This was good for when Sky's nightmares got bad - and they were bad alot. But Prapai had a business trip. At first he tried to get out of it but in the end Sky convinced him to go.
—
"You should go on the trip?"
"Trying to get rid of me?"
Sky smiled mischievously "no. You said yourself it's important, and it's only a few nights"
"I don't want to leave you"
"I'll be fine. Promise"
"You sure baby, I don't have to go"
"Papai" sky said sternly
"Fine, baby" he said, planting a kiss on Sky's nose. He jerked back, surprised at the sudden affection but a smile quickly replaced the frown and he put his arms around Papai's waist.
"But I'm calling you every night"
'Ok"
"And morning"
Sky smiled.—
"Payu, I have a favour to ask"
He raised an eyebrow.
"Can you watch Sky?"
"What about you?"
"I've got a business trip and he's still-struggling"
"Of course I will, I can send Rain over everyday"
"Thank you"
"Don't worry about him it'll be fine"
"I know"—
The day Papai was meant to leave Sky was terrified. It hadn't hit him until that moment. It would be 5 days alone. Completely by himself. Rain was going to drop over but that still left the nights. But he put on a brave face. He couldn't stop his love from working just because he was nervous. He knew how much Papai loved these business trips so he kissed him on the cheek and watched the car drive away.
The first day was fine
The second day was lonely
The third day was hard. He didn't sleep - at all.
The fourth day had him on the verge of tears
Rain stayed with him for longer than usual that day, sensing his friend's distress. He could tell Sky hadn't been sleeping well. He ordered them food and got Sky talking. It was a good distraction for a few hours but when he left the apartment felt more empty than ever. He curled up on his bed, head pounding. The last thing he wanted to do was sleep but he was just so tired. He let his eyes droop then close. He was laying on a bed in the middle of nowhere. Cool air stung his naked body. The only light was from a naked bulb that hung just above him. He could hear laughing and that. The lighter. The clinking of the lighter. He panic set deep in his chest. A cold pure authentic panic was coursing through his veins. He squeezed his eyes shut, then he felt the hands. He tried to get his mind to shut down but all he could hear was the clicking of the lighter. Click. Click. Click.
Sky jolted into reality. Click. He was shaking so bad he could focus and everything was too much. Click. He reached for Papai but was met with a cool empty mattress. Click. Tears now spilling down his pale cheeks he fumbled for his phone. Click. Quickly dialling Papai's number he pressed back against the wall trying to steady himself.
"Sky?" a groggy voice said on the other end of the line, "what's wrong baby"
Sky tried to open his mouth but he couldn't speak. His throat felt tight.
"Sky?" Papai said, louder and more awake now, "Sky, answer me honey"
Sky let out a small sob, "Papai"
"Baby, did you have a nightmare?"
"Y-yes" he sobbed
"I'm sorry, what can I do?" Papai said, voice fearful
"Talk"
"I miss you" he said softly "I'll be home tomorrow night, its ok"
Sky struggled back another sob which he must have heard because he said, "cry if you need to baby, I'm right here"
Papais voice sounded thicker now, like he was holding back tears of his own
"I'm scared" Sky admitted quietly
"I know honey, but you're safe. I promise. Do you need me to call someone?"
"No" Sky said shaking his head, even though there was no one there to see it
"Are you sure, Rain could come over?"
"No, he's probably busy"
"Sky, please let me call him. I'm worried"
"I just want you"
"I know, I know honey. Let me call someone though, til I can get there?"
"Ok"
