You're drunk?

Sky wasn't thinking straight when he accepted Rain's invite

He was thinking about everything he still had to do.

Everyone was so excited for his birthday but he didn't feel ready at all.

Then there was school where Sky had been elected to lead the juniors in an upcoming event on top of all his own work.

They had just handed in one of the biggest assignments of the year but the stress of it all still hadn't worn off

And they were getting a new one Monday

And Sky's dad expected him to come visit soon because it had been a while but Sky just couldn't comprehend when he was going to fit that all in.

This led to multiple late nights (or even all nighters), more severe nightmares and constant dizziness

But still, he was fine. Perfectly fine.

So when Rain invited him out for drinks to celebrate the end of their project he accepted even though he hated drinking. He'd barely drunk since Gun but in that moment he felt so stressed he just agreed.

He had his first drink quickly

Then didn't argue when Rain put another one in front of him

And another

And another

Until they blurred together - everything blurred together. Each breath blurred together.

He felt so slow yet full of energy as he swayed with Rain on the dancefloor. He couldn't hear the music so he just copied Rain's jerked movements, alcohol buzzing through his body.

Then he felt something buzz against his thigh

Rain shook him, somewhere beneath the fog that clouded his brain he could make out Rains voice yelling over the crowd

"Sky, is that your phone"

"I d-d-on't.." Sky slurred, grappling for his phone. He felt Rain pluck it for his hand. He tried to grab for it but Rain held it out of his reach

"It's Papai, I'll answer it. You can't talk"

"I'm fine, f-fine"

"Nope" Rain declared grabbing onto Skys wrist and dragging him out of the club

Out in the cold air Sky finally realised that he couldn't hold himself upright, turning to the graffitied wall for support. From there he listened to Rain's airy voice as he reassured Papai that Sky was fine

"Hey Papai - No, it's Rain - Yes, Sky's ok but he's drunk - How drunk? Really drunk. I've never seen him this drunk. Maybe you should come pick him up? - I'll wait with him, out the front yeah? - Okay see you soon"

And with that Rain hauled Sky off the wall and practically dragged him back through the club to wait for Papai"

To say Papai was shocked when Rain answered was an understatement.

Never in all the time Papai had known Sky had gotten remotely close to being drunk. Even when they went out he never had more than one or two drinks.

When he pulled up he noticed the boys right away. Rain had one arm looped around Sky's waist and the other gripping the railing on the wall in a desperate attempt to hold Sky upright.

As he parked and began to make his way over to them he watched Rain scold Sky who had attempted to slip away from Rain. Sky poked Rain's cheek as a lazy smile spread across his face. His head dipped back and Rain had to suddenly tighten his grip. Luckily Papai arrived at that moment and was able to catch Sky.

"Paiiiii" Sky slurred

"Hey honey" Papai greeted, turning to Rain

"Thank you for looking after him, Nong Rain, I can take it from here. Do you need a lift home?"

"Thank you but I'm okay. Sig is still inside and Phayu is going to collect us later"

"Alright," Papai said as he carefully moved Sky out of Rain's arms and into his own. It was at that moment he realised exactly how drunk Sky was. His limbs were like rubber, he melted into Papai's arms. Papai huffed quietly as he dragged Sky to the car. Opening the door with his free hand he hauled Sky into the passenger seat, fighting against his loose limbs to buckle the seat belt.

"Pai Pai" Sky drawled

"Yes honey"

"You're mad" Sky pouted

"I'm not mad"

"Yes you are. Don't be mad"

"I'm not mad Sky" Papai said perhaps too harshly as he swatted Sky's arm out the way and finally clicked the seatbelt into place

Sky stayed silent for the trip, head lolling to the side. He hummed along to the radio, breaking out into drunken song at some parts. When they arrived at Papai's new condo he let Papai guide him out of the car and up the stairs. It wasn't until they got inside that he began to misbehave again.

His arms creeped down Papai's side, clutching his thigh. Papai pushed it away but Sky just leaned in until his lips were inches away. He used a free hand and tried to push it under Papai's shirt but again Papai pushed him away

"No Sky" he said softly

"But Paiii I want you"

"Not while you're drunk darling"

"But I don't care"

"You might tomorrow"

"I won't"

"Sky, I won't sleep with you when you can't give consent okay?"

Sky's face fell but he stopped trying. Papai gently grabbed his hand and pulled him into the bathroom.

"Shower" he demanded and so Sky stumbled into the shower until his back was pressed against the wall. Quickly undressing himself Papai followed Sky, switching their positions so he was behind Sky. Silently he washed Sky's hair and body. Then dried the shaking boy and wrapped him in warm pyjamas.

"Here drink this" Pai said, holding out a glass of water, "it'll help you feel better tomorrow"

"Pai are you still mad" Sky questioned as he took a sip of the water

"I'm not mad"

"But I'm drunk"

"I'm just worried about you, love. Whatever's wrong you can tell me, you know that right?"

Sky thought for a moment then said "It's just too much, you know"

"What's too much, love?" Pai sked, taking the now empty glass from Sky's hand

"Life" he let out a small chuckle. And then another until he was laughing his head off. Papai froze for a moment unsure of what to do until Sky reached out an arm and grabbed his wrist. Very quickly his laugh turned into a sob, then tears were pouring down his face, which was buried in Papai's shoulder.

"Hey hey is okay," Papai soothed as he rubbed small circles on his boyfriend's back, "just get some sleep and we can work it out in the morning. Together"

Sky pulled his face away and looked up at Papai, "you promise?"

"I promise, now sleep honey"

And with that Sky quickly fell asleep in Pai's shoulder
