Sleepless Nights

"Sky, baby, i'm home" Papai called, throwing his keys into the small table and making his way towards the bedroom.

They were a year into their relationship and although they hadn't officially moved in together Papai spent so much time at Sky's dorm he practically lived there. He entered the bedroom only to see Sky fast asleep, curled in on himself under the blankets. He looked so peaceful and Papai was so grateful for that. Nightmares were still a regular occurrence in their home, from both boys. Although Papai's nightmares were not nearly as vivid or distressing as Sky's seemed to be, he found himself awake much more than he was asleep. Glancing at the clock he swore silently to himself. It was 3 in the morning. He'd promised Sky he wouldn't be later than midnight but his clients had been so horrendously painful. He knew he'd be late but he didn't realise it was this late. He should've called. Quickly and quietly he had a burning shower, threw on some Pjs and slipped into bed by Sky. Immediately Sky arms found him and grabbed onto him.

"Pai?" Sky muttered sleepily.

"Im here baby, go back to sleep"

"Im sorry, I fell asleep" he said, eyes still closed

"No, I'm sorry honey, I was late. Sleep"

"Mhm" Sky muttered before falling back into a peaceful sleep

Sky woke slowly. He groaned at the sudden brightness caused by the curtains which had been pushed apart lazily allowing the morning sun to stream through right into Sky's face. He reached to where Papai should have been but was met with a stone cold mattress.

"Pai!" he called, moving his hand to cover his eyes, "Pai?"

He heard shuffling from the kitchen as his boyfriend entered the room.

"Morning baby" he said cheerfully, leaning down onto the bed to place a gentle kiss on Sky's forehead

"Paiiii, why are you up so early?" Sky winged

"It's almost 7 Sky"

"But you were in bed late"

"I'm fine, do you want breakfast?"

"I want you to come back to bed"

"I know but we have stuff to do"

"Huh?"

"We're going shopping today, remember, for Rain and Phayu's party? We keep putting it off and it's tonight"

"Uggh fine" sky groaned, hauling himself out of bed

And that was how Sky found himself, half asleep with Papai walking through the busy mall. Papai was right. He had been putting off this shopping for weeks. Prapai had indeed noticed Sky's reluctance to be around crowds of people but it had to be done. It was their friends birthdays after all.

"Okay, so what do we need to get, baby?" Pai said, looping his arm around Sky's waist.

Normally Sky would avoid any PDA in public, he still had scars from Gun's 'punishments' - not that he'd taken Sky out often in public - but now he needed the closeness.

"I'll buy Rain something and you get Phayu's gift?"

"Sounds good, I can't believe their birthdays are so close"

"It is crazy but at least we only have to do this once a year instead of two"

"Thank God, and we just need to organise one party as well, it's giving me a headache"

"You're doing such a good job"
