Chapter 2

HER POV

The exam we started the previous day went exactly as I expected.

However, the first one today didn't go in my favor, leaving me in a foul mood.

I met Kobby, a new friend who was quite entertaining, which helped me hold back from frowning too much.

But then, there was this guy who kept stealing glances at me. What did he even want? He didn't look familiar at all.

Well, I figured I wouldn't lose anything if I just ignored him and looked away.

I wasn't interested in any boy drama at this stage of my life. I had always prioritized my mum's advice when making decisions.

Suddenly, I felt someone walking toward me.

"Ei?" I asked, a little taken aback.

"Hi," he stammered, struggling to piece his words together.

Whatever he wanted, I wasn't ready for it.

But I was polite to him. After all, I gave him a chance to speak.

MY POV

After I said hello to her, she looked me up and down. That's when I knew I had signed myself up for disaster.

I felt completely lost but forced myself to say something before I looked stupid in front of everyone around.

Though it was a cool day, I felt sweat trickle down my back and even down to my boxer shorts.

The pressure was getting worse, so I quickly blurted out, "Please, I would like to have a word with you after the paper."

She just nodded and looked away. I walked back to my seat feeling superior, at least to the others in the hall.

I had managed to approach my crush and talk to her. But despite my newfound confidence, I didn't have the courage to meet her after the paper.

I was the first to leave the room. I didn't want to risk any "yawa" (embarrassment). Fortunately, no one seemed to notice what had happened earlier.

Back at school, Kobby mocked me endlessly when I narrated the story to him.

But I trusted him not to tell anyone, and that made me feel safe.

On the third day, I decided to mind my own business and ignore her. Big men don't chase vibes, right?

Never! 😂 The day ended, and as usual, we returned to campus.

After freshening up, we went to class for study time. To our surprise, the proprietor was standing in front of the class with a few teachers.

"What happened at the exam hall today?" he demanded.

My mind was racing. No one dared to answer, and the room fell silent, as if we were in a cemetery.

"So instead of focusing on your exams and hoping for the best results, you go there to make noise and disturb the other school?" he continued.

Where did this come from? I asked myself. We thought that was it, but then we received a punishment harsher than anything we'd experienced during our entire time on campus.

Since I was the class leader, my punishment was doubled.

This made me even more pissed, and I developed a deep resentment toward everyone from her school, including her.

But on Thursday, as soon as I saw her in class, all my anger melted away.

It disappeared completely.

A part of me longed for her, and all I could think about that day was her bright eyes and wide smile that could be seen from a distance.

Still, I couldn't bring myself to talk to her. The last day of the exam finally arrived, and I knew I couldn't miss my chance.

I had to talk to her, at least to get a way to contact her. I had no idea when or where I would see her again.

So after the paper, I went up to her. This time, I felt a bit more comfortable and confident. I asked for her contact information.

She told me she didn't have a phone, which caught me off guard.

But to my surprise, she gave me her mum's number and said I could call if I wanted to speak to her.

Don't be fooled, though. She was nice to me... or so it seemed.

"Hmmm."

It was a happy day for me because I knew I hadn't lost her completely.
