3.THE BOUNCE

chapter 3

Right from the examination hall, were smiling faces all around, the long awaited exam had finally ended.

The feeling of no school tomorrow was the best that we dreamt of and finally it was a dream come true.

So I had her mum's contact and I had to call.
But you know African parents.I had to save myself from insults and slaps through a phone.

This thought alone backed me off . But was I ready to lose her?

Of course not!

After a few days of relaxing, Facebook was the most entertaining social platform for me then

I spent every second surfing the platform.

I saw a link to "people you may know" and I didn't hesitate to tap on it.

There , I got the shock of my life.

This profile picture looked familiar , I then clicked on it and zoomed for a better view and confirmation.

Oh yes! You guessed right
It was her,:

"Bema",

At that moment, I felt God prays for us too😂
I don't know how tho,

I stealthily messaged her ,
I waited on her reply for over 10 minutes

This lady was online but gave no response.

It was late so I fell asleep. The next morning the first thing I did was pick my phone and check unread messages.
I did not believe my eyes so I had to go wash myself and view better.

And oh! I wasn't dreaming,

I smiled uncontrollably on seeing my text finally replied:

"Hi, how are you doing", I texted. 10:00pm
"Hello. 8:15am
I'm good". She replied. 9:20am

Since it was on phone, I was not liable to sweating. I could express myself freely

Sometimes it took days to receive a reply to my texts. Even after introducing myself to her.

I wish I had a choice.

I was not astonished though because that was the first impression I got about her.

She was cold towards me so our texts were super boring but knowing how much I needed her in my life,

I kept the pace with our texts.

You know what?
Sometimes you get very bored and you end up talking to people you don't want to.

I think that sweet mistake happened on her part. This day the vibe was just different.

She opened up to me and we really got along with each other, I wished that day never ended.

Since then, we got to develop this close friendship. We talked a lot about ourselves.

Got to know enough about her and that made me understand her behavior towards guys.

It was worth it.

She was not ready for any relationship.
But I needed to ask her out because I had fallen already.
How was this even going to work.
Besides she was a spitfire.

Trust me, once she decides on something, none can change it until she does herself.

I was ready to give in everything just to get her.
After knowing each other for a while, we were close to furthering our education in High School.

She had told me her choice of High Schools and it was heartbreaking the school were all mixed- gender while mine was a single sex school.

Thinking of these and the guys she was going to meet, friends she was yet to have, I had to shoot my shot.

"All die be die" I could not afford to lose her to any guy as she reports to High School because I had heard stories of High School.

Everyone too eager to be in relationships, curiosity leading others on both wrong and right parts.

Peer influence. I got more scared anytime I sat to think through .

I decided to confess my hidden feelings for her , not thinking of any consequences it may bring.

I was just ready for anything at all. Kobby was always ready to give support on decisions I made.

He also encouraged me to make a move but then promised to mock me if I don't succeed on it.

This was an exam to take , though it was online.
I made sure I ate enough,
Bought enough data bundle,
Just so I wouldn't be affected if I lose appetite.
I then waited on her online.

As if someone had communicated to her to come online and tolerate my jokes.

Within few minutes ,she was back online.

I then started:

" I've wanted to tell you this the first day I met you, you got me on a spot immediately I set my eyes on you, there is nothing better than can happen to me than you giving me a chance in your life. I promise to never let you down You made me believe in love at first sight. I know you are not ready but I will move with you till you are . Just know that I love you . Would you please give me a chance?"

I dropped these lines from deep down my heart. I was in high spirits for the reply.

It showed "seen" meaning she had read it.

She started typing and that got me very nervous .

"I'm sorry " , she sent
