Alex Mercer had wanted a sibling for his entire life. So he couldn't contain his excitement when his parents informed him that he was going to have a sibling. He wasn't sure if it would be weird to have a sibling that was 15 years younger than him, but it didn't matter.
When she was born, his parents let him pick her name. He chose Annalise Jane Mercer, this way he could call her AJ as a special nickname between the two of them.
After Alex came out as gay, his parent never really got over it. The only time that he was really happy at home was when he was playing with AJ. He promised himself that no matter what happened between him and his parents that he would be there for his baby sister.
