Michelle's POV

3 years later

I walked through the hall, answering endless greetings. Was I like a warrior coming from a battle to them?

I stopped in front of door, with a plate on it.

Mrs Jackson.
Michelle Jackson, lawyer.

A memory from the past popped into my head. When I read the plate with Lorraine's surname on it. The first day at my first job. Who knew I'm gonna meet my future wife there?

I sat behind my desk and soon my employees started walking in. Some wanted to just know how the trial went because it was a big thing and some had questions about their own cases. Yes, I had my own company now. I was so stubborn, and finally achieved it.

I finished work for today and found my car in the parking lot. When I opened the door of our house, a black fluff ball greeted me.

Sadly, Zu passed away due to the heart condition, but we adopted a new dog, Gilbert. He was much smaller than her physically, but definetly not in his soul.

I went to the kitchen and saw a lovely picture.

Charlie, our 3 years old daughter, was painting something, Toby was playing with a model of a plane and Lorraine was doing something on her laptop. Propably finishing reports for today.

She also worked, but much less. And in different company as an only lawyer there. Something connected with shelters for animals.

Both kids ran to hug me and she waited for her turn to kiss my cheek.

"Oh God, those heels..."

I took the black heels off and massaged my feet.

"You expect to run the world in the shoes you cannot walk in?"

She gave me an amused look.

"I'm in pain, you know!"

I went to take a shower and when I walked out of the bathroom, I saw a birthday cake on the table with candles on it. All the three of them stood in front of it. They wished me all the best. I thought about my wish and blow the candles.

We shared the cake. When the kids were put to bed, I came back to the kitchen to clean everything. Lorraine walked in and started helping me. We didn't ask the usual boring questions, because we didn't feel the need to. We felt good just enjoing each other's company.

"Do you remember my birthday when you were pregnant?"

"Oh yes, poor you. I was in hospital because it was the end of my pregnancy and I felt horrible. You spent the whole day with me, watching me suffer."

"But, you bought me a muffin at the end of the day, so I forgave you."

We smiled at the memory. The time I was pregnant was... Strange. And pretty hard for both of us. She wasn't comfortable while explaining who's the father of the baby to every doctor.  But she handled it incredibly. I knew she tried her best to hide it, but she was jealous, watching me experience something she could never.

It took a lot of talking and stuff, but we were good for now.

I made the bed while she was changing. We laid in the warm bed, cuddled together.

"You know I love you Lorraine Jackson."

"I love you too Michelle Jackson."

We kissed. I don't know when I fell asleep, but I woke up the next day, which was Saturday, and saw her laying next to me, with Gilbert sleeping in between us.

Soon I heard steps and the door opened, revealing Toby and Charlie. They jumped onto the bed, waking Lora up. She started tickling them. The room was filled with laughter.

A few years ago, I'd never thought I'd end up having a family with Mrs Jackson. But apparently, I was happy.

...

Hi! First of all, thank you for reading.

Second of all, I want to inform you that I'm not a lawyer and I write for fun, so if I portrayed something wrong, I'm sorry.
