The morning of the exam, right after breakfast, Payu called his assistant from his table and asked him to wait in his office. Rain went there and sat for a few minutes, then he jumped immediately as he heard the noise of the door opening and closing behind him.

"Sit down Rain, don't worry... so, I've signed the authorizations for the recruits of your company, you just have to take this box and give each recruit the document with their name on it. Without it, it will be impossible to have access to the exam, so it is a pretty important task. Is it clear?" Payu said. Rain nodded and took the documents.

After his assistant left the office, Payu couldn't help but smirk at the idea of his plan working smoothly. Rain's authorization wasn't among the other documents, Payu kept it and hid it in a drawer of his desk. He knew that Rain was probably going to come back and ask for an explanation, but he had already prepared for that.

Several minutes later, in fact, Rain came back, he looked quite worried, Payu asked him what was bothering him and Rain responded:

"Sir, I can't find my authorization... I... I thought that I would have found it among the others but it just wasn't there..."

"I'm very disappointed, Rain. This time it was just an authorization but what would have you done if it was a secret document that could put all your friends in danger? This is very irresponsible" Payu said with a serious tone.

There was a reason if he was using that kind of lie, Payu could just say that he lost the document somewhere but he was certain that Rain would have looked for it anywhere. On the other hand, blaming him was going to make Rain think more about the bad impression with the officer rather than about the paper itself.

"Think about the path you took and look if you left it somewhere, I'm sure that you will find it in time" Payu said before Rain could ask him to print another one. Rain sighed and apologized for the inconvenience, then he left Payu's office.

His plan was a great success, he decided to go around the camp for a walk and then wait with the other high rank officers for the beginning of the examination. The new recruits were in line near the edge of the river for the first part of the exam. Payu couldn't be happier, but then he noticed Rain running with a paper in his hands to the small desk of the officer who was charged with the check of the authorizations.

Payu couldn't understand, then Prapai finally arrived and sat down next to him.

"Don't you think that you were a little too strict with that boy? It was just a stupid document, you could print another one and... oh..." Pai said as he realized that it was exactly the plan Payu was talking about.

"Yeah... shit... if he gets hurt I'll kick you into the river, clear?" Payu replied as he glared at him.

Soon the wind became stronger and the waves in the river seemed more intimidating. For the first part, the recruits had to jump into the water and go from one edge of the stream to the other and back. Payu was getting more and more concerned.

Rain was considerably slower than the rest of the first group, however it looked like he managed to reach the opposite shore quite safely. On the way back though, for some reason, he wasn't moving any further, he was struggling to keep his head above the water. The rest of the first group didn't notice that Rain was having huge difficulties since they were all facing the other direction.

"I have to go..." Payu said to Pai. He left his coat and jacket on the bench were he was sitting and rushed to the water to help Rain. He swam to him and pulled him back to the shore safely. Everyone stared at them, it was at that moment that Payu, completely drenched and freezing, yelled at them:

"One of your friends was in danger and nobody turned to help him. This isn't what we want from you! I'm not going to let that slide. Come on, Rain... I'll take you to the infirmary..."
