Chapter 15

As soon as Rain arrived at the camp the next morning, Sky rushed to inform his friend of the short conversation he had with the two officers. He told him about Payu's justification with a rather skeptical tone and concluded that Payu was probably going to meet him later to apologize directly to him. Rain asked his friend what he thought he could do, Sky didn't hesitate and replied immediately:

"The choice is up to you, however, I still don't trust those people. They are officers and they fear that they may lose their position because of a scandal. Payu has said that he would do anything for you, if he doesn't convince you, you may ask him to confess his love in the middle of the camp, where everybody could see him. I'm sure that he won't do anything"

"I see... but I don't want him to lose what he has because of me. I was very angry because he kissed me like that, but I also have to admit that I start feeling... something for him... do you understand what I mean?" Rain responded.

"That isn't a problem, Rain. I can't say for sure if you like him or not, but there is still an emergency exit after all. If Payu accepts to confess in front of the whole camp, you can still stop him before it is too late. He will prove that he would really do anything for you and at the same time he won't have problems with his rank... oh wait, Pai is coming" Sky said as he noticed the lieutenant walking to them.

They saluted them and Pai made a rapid nod. He turned to Rain and calmly asked him if he could follow him. Rain nodded and followed him as soon as the officer started walking back to the officers' building. Pai told Payu to wait in the office, but Payu couldn't wait and decided to stay in the corridor, so that he could see his beloved assistant sooner.

"Rain, enter please" Payu started and opened the door of the office to let the guy in. Rain stepped inside and stopped near the center of the room. Payu and Pai entered after him and closed the door, Pai walked to a corner of the room while Payu stood in front of the young recruit.

"Rain, I want to apologize for what I did. I swear that I would have never done something like that if I didn't think it was just a feverish dream. I understand that you're mad at me and I will do whatever you want to make you feel better, just ask and I will do it" Payu said.

Rain hesitated, he gulped and looked around. The lieutenant's words sounded sincere but a small part of Rain felt like he could just be a good player who did this to several other guys in the same situation.

"Are you sure that you would do anything, just for me... sir?" Rain asked.

"Yes. There is just one thing I cannot do, I can't exonerate you from the mandatory training, however I will be glad to do whatever you ask" Payu repeated.

"Sir... w... were you sincere when you said that?"

"That I want to apologize?" Payu asked a little confused. Rain looked at the floor and shook his head, then he said:

"That you love me..."

Payu didn't say anything at first, he felt tears coming to his eyes, feeling like it could be a good hint, maybe Rain felt the same. Payu raised the young recruit's chin with his fingers and whispered:

"Yes, I sincerely love you"
