"Hey Theo," Ezer waved his hand to the larger man relaxing at the garden watching him running towards the pillar he was sitting at enthusiastically. Theo beamed, gesturing the 17 year old that was once just the size of a kitten to sit beside him.
Theo pat his head,"You know, sometimes it feels like you grow up too fast."
"You saw me yesterday, don't act dramatic," Ezer chuckled at his only friend's reaction to him. Although he was 17, he was still practically a child in a man's body. He never acted the age he was supposed to.
While other teenagers often sneak out to drink wine and smoke cigarettes, he only spent time with Theo to continue learning his abilities. Theo was and always would be his non-biological father, but calling him that was purely weird so he just called him by his name instead.
"Hey Theo," he said, causing the man to stop reading his novel once more and drag his attention back to the teenager.
Ezer stared at him for a split second,"Remember that time I asked you why you never tell people you created them? You said they won't believe you even if you prove it. But, if you do prove it then wouldn't they believe you by then? I mean, what other creatures on Earth has ever had superpowers like you!"
Theo gazed at the lad in beside him curiously. He wondered why he was very intellectual and curious for a teenager. When he was his age, he was never allowed to speak a word out his mouth.
He closed his book with a loud thud,"If you prove something, they would believe you. But you'll still live up to the name of a monster," he got up and walked away to the pond nearby the garden with his hand grasped into a fist.
He approached the pond and opened his fist into the water, exposing raw meat. The meat fell into the pond and tons of mythical creatures appeared and began attacking one another for the piece of meat.
Ezer's eyes were fixated at the older male, feeling mixed emotions from his statement.
"What does that mean?"
"When your brain grows older. When your powers start evolving and you begin creating species, just like me...," he sighed as he watched the creatures fought one another and bleeding, yet no to the point where they die.
Theo turned and looked at the boy, smiling weakly as if by force.
"You'll understand."
"Mom, dad. I know you're not here anymore and you probably wouldn't want me to go back to the mansion since it might trigger my trauma or so... But, just because I'm at the starting point of the adult life, I intend to go back to find a suspect. The forest behind our house might have something to do with it...," Y/N clenched her hands together, crouching down in front of her parents' graves that were placed exactly next to each other.
The tombs were already partially covered in grown plants and had brown, muddy substances around it. It was proof on how long they had disappeared from Y/N's life.
She stared emotionlessly at the graves,"You know, some people used to call me crazy for talking to you guys here as a kid... I remember you defending me and protesting when a random toddler accused me of stealing his bread. But now I'm 18, I can defend myself, right!! I'm not a kid anymore... I'm not your kid anymore..."
She began tearing up talking.
Y/N missed them so much, she longed for them and her other family members. She always woke up, regretting the decision of going to the amusement park with her nanny. Regretting her choice on watching the show.
It was her fault. That's what she's always thought.
If she wasn't so eager to visit the park and play arcade games, none of the incidents would've happened. And if she rejected watching the circus show, she would've at least gone back on time. At least just to spend her last moment with them.
"I wish I was with you both at that time... Least I would've followed you to your deaths and never experience this terrible life as a homeless teenager," she sighed exasperatedly.
It lasted a few minutes of her regretting her life decisions and gazing into her parents' names etched onto each tombstones. Eventually, she stood up straight, wiping the drops of tears that were about to slip away from her puffy cheeks.
Y/N beamed once more, now calmed down.
"If the police won't cooperate, then I'll find the people who did this myself. Even if it would cost my life."
"MOTHERR- SHE STOLE MY STUFFED DOLLS AND THREW ONE OF THEM DOWN THE STAIRS," Y/N glanced at the gloomy mansion that was once uplifted and practically the symbol for happiness or joy. The dark clouds helped make the mansion look as if it was taken out from a horror movie.
There was a rather old woman wearing expensive materials carrying heavy luggages from a luxurious car. Her back was hit gently when two kids of the same size ran and caught her, one of them whining about the other's action. The kid was holding a certain doll, larger than her palm.
The woman straightened her lips as she placed the last luggage onto the ground,"Lisa, those are just dolls. They don't feel pain nor do they care they fell...," she furrowed her brows and smiled at how concerned her daughter was.
"But, Rose-" (Lisa)
Her hands reached to take the doll that was said to be injured.
"See, no blood!"
Y/N took a glimpse at the doll as she hid behind the bushy tree. Her expression turned into a wave of shock when she saw the doll letting out a drop of tear.
She thought it was just a hallucination considering how they weren't noticing what she was seeing.
The three went inside the mansion with Lisa keeping a distance from Rose and obscuring herself in between her mom's hands. Y/N took this as a chance to move behind the mansion towards the forest's entrance.
It took her a few minutes, afraid that someone would see her although the mansion was placed someone far but not entirely that far from the town.
She did arrive at the forest unnoticeable by anybody.
And as she expected, the forest had a bad stench and appeared horrendous. Mud was everywhere covering the dead flowers and there were dead animals like insects, specifically centipedes, around the ground.
She let out a short barfing sound, disgusted by the sight.
It was time for her to give up, but she couldn't let her friend and parents' down. Besides, she's technically been living with the things inside the forest as a homeless person. What's new to her?
Y/N scanned around the area, eventually giving in and accepting the terrible fate she must go through.
"Well, here goes nothin'-"
