Wanda Maximoff was never one to like school. Now more than ever, she found it extremely hard to bring herself to go back to attend her lectures. Ever since the passing, Wanda had distanced herself from everyone and stopped going to school for a month. However, no matter how much she wanted to just curl up in a ball and not have any contact with any living creature for the rest of eternity, she knew she had to go back to class or risk getting kicked out of the dorms.
"Ms Maximoff, how kind of you to join us after a month." Mr Hamilton greeted her coldly.
"Good morning.. sir." Wanda mumbled.
"See me after class Ms Maximoff. I believe we have a lot to discuss regarding your absence."
"Yes Mr Hamilton."
The brunette then turned and stalked off to her seat in the far back, sinking low into her chair, trying not to draw attention to herself. Time passed so slowly that once or twice Wanda almost dozed off to sleep. The bell rang excruciatingly loudly and startled Wanda back to reality. As the students cleared off, Mr Hamilton stood by his desk and waited for her to join him up front. The scoldings lasted for half an hour but Mr Hamilton's shrill voice soon became deaf to Wanda after 5 minutes of listening. She became engrossed in staring at the students chilling in the park through the window, wishing she could jump out and just end it all there. That thought. The thought of ending it all. It came to Wanda ever so often however she could never execute it, due to the memories of her and her late family. She relied and clung onto those memories in her dark times, wishing and hoping with every fibre in her that she could have them back. Have her brother back.
"Ms Maximoff, do you understand me?" Mr Hamilton snapped.
"I- what?" Wanda asked bewildered.
"Ms Maximoff, I have given you plenty of chances due to your unfortunate family situation, however you have been absent for way too long. The limit for absences is one week and you know that very well. Due to your actions you have a lot of catching up to do." Mr Hamilton sighed frustrated.
"Yes sir," the brunette looked down at her feet in fake remorse.
"You have a lot of missing assignments but due to your history of straight A's, if you can finish them all by the end of the semester and pass your finals, I will be obliged to give you a passing grade."
Wanda was speechless. Straight A's all year and this was her payback?
"You're a bright kid Wanda. Use it well."
"Right, thanks."
"Also Miss Maximoff?"
"Yes sir?"
"Don't skip anymore classes if you may."
With that, Wanda turned heel and left. The corridors looked horrifyingly long to Wanda, thus she popped in her airpods and started walking to the stationary shop to replenish her worn out stationary kit. The brunette got a lot of weird stares and sympathy looks as she slouched across the park trying as hard as she could to blend in with the surroundings. However she could not avoid the eagle like stares of he classmates and professors in the university. Looking down, she turned up the volume of the airpods, feeling her face burn up trying to avoid any eye contact with anyone. The sharp eye of the college councillor soon caught her however and Wanda looked up at her with tired eyes wanting so badly to just reach home and lie in bed for the rest of the day.
"Hi Wanda, how have you been lately?" Mrs Brown asked, eyes filled with concern and pity.
Was she oblivious to how Wanda looked? Airpods in, posture atrocious, eye bags so dark you could probably spot them from a mile away. Could she look more worse?
