It was strange to Darcy that the ministry had offered her an apprenticeship, even without seeing the results of her final exams. Although she thought that given Dora's reputation as an excellent Auror's apprentice, they had looked favorably upon Darcy too.

Nevertheless, Darcy readied herself the morning of her interview with care, she wanted to make sure she made a good impression on her 'boss'. Gareth Greengrass. As Dora had told her. Daphne and her younger sister Astoria's uncle. He was no more connected with the deatheater part of the family as her father had been, so Darcy felt safe in his company, despite the fact that she now had the dark mark etched onto her skin, a constant reminder of the crime she had committed in bringing Voldemort back to life.

As she entered the kitchen, braiding her long, yellow-blonde hair as she went, Andromeda passed her an official-looking envelope, with a pointed look. "My results." Stated Darcy, not sure she wanted to take the letter. But after a clap on the back from Ted, she conceded and ripped open the envelope.

Darcy had to laugh, she had received 'exceeds expectations' at Defence Against the Dark Arts, which given what she had done made her chuckle at the result. If only they knew. She passed the letter to Ted who read it out loud and she was congratulated by the two. Eleven. The only question on her mind now was, what had Barty got when he was at school, surely no better than her? However, she had no time to ruminate on that thought because Andromeda was pushing her out of the door so she wouldn't be late for her interview.

Her interview went well, and she was instantly accepted by Gareth Greengrass who turned out to have the same sunny disposition as his nieces. Mr. Greengrass had shown her around the Department of Mysteries, and each room, with witches and wizards studying their contents, was among the most interesting things she had ever seen. It would not be like working, it would be a dream.

But as she left the ministry a sudden thought occurred to her. Now that she was going to come of age early next year and she had an apprenticeship that would be earning her money, she ought to get a place of her own. Her parents were not Andromeda and Ted as much as she wished they were, she couldn't trespass on their hospitality any longer.

With that thought in mind, Darcy apparated to Diagon Alley and in the growing dark, waltzed along the streets looking for any apartments above the shops that might be for let. Just as a wizard passed her, lighting all the street lamps with his wand, she was reminded with a tang of nostalgia for this time last year when she had followed Barty Crouch.

As if summoned by her thoughts, a white blond man approached her, it took her a minute before she recognized him, "Barty!" She cried and threw herself at him hugging him tightly.
