Each day was getting colder. Today, Maya even discovered frost on the leaves! She wore all her clothes, just a T-shirt, hoodie, a pair of fluffy insides pants, a short sock for right foot, an extra long sock for the left, and a pair of old sneakers. She quivered outside, poking the dirt with a stick, ready to make fire. THWANG! She hit something. She thought it was a rock, but when she touched it, it was smooth and felt like patterns. She dug deeper. The stick cracked. Maya dug with her hands, fingernails full with dirt and grime.
The gold box glinted. Maya brushed of the remaining dirt. A pattern of a huge eye was carved in the middle of the box. She tried opening the box. She looked around. A shadow ran off. She needed to upgrade her defences if she wanted to see the contents of this box. Maya jumped up the big mushrooms and sat on beside her bed. She shifted the roof of the treehouse just a bit, so the sun could shine through. The box creaked when opened. A shiny golden dagger sat on top of a cloth. A red line ran down its blade. Maya slashed at the air with the dagger outside her treehouse. Wind blew everywhere and then a small fire fire started on the broken sticks inside the pit. Well, that was easy. Amazed with her discovery, she touched the cloth. It was kinda hard. She took it over. Maya screamed. A case had an eye, eyelids and all. The masked boy jumped inside. "DON'T OPEN THAT!" Maya dropped the case. It fell like slow motion down the tree...
