ROSEANNE
When I got out from the mirror I didn't have a minute to think before a small boy came running up to me.
"Are you Mlle. Park?" He asked, "Yes, I am." I said, "Letter from Victomte De Changy." He said and took up a letter from his bag.
He gave it to me, but I didn't dare to open it instead I told the boy to wait while I took out a paper and began writing away to Raoul, I asked him if he could immediately come to the Opera house. I put the letter in an envolpe.
"Can you give this to the Vicomte's coachman?" I asked the boy, he nodded. "Do you know where he lives?" I asked, "Yes, everybody does!" He said, I nodded. "If I give you 5 francs will you go and deliever it to him personally?" I asked, "For 5 franc I'll fly there!" The boy said happily.
I didn't get to thank him before he was gone.
I didn't open the letter from Raoul, in fear that he said he wanted to break off the marriage proposal.
I waited patiently for Raoul by the stairs which I could see everyone who left and entered the Opera house. It took an hour before Raoul ran inside.
"Roseanne!" He yelled, I ran up to him and hugged him. "What has happened? Why do you look so scared?" He asked me, I hushed him. "We can't talk here. There's to much people around. We need to be alone." I told him, "Okay, but I don't understand..."
"Raoul, I am so scared..."
"Has she hurt you?" He asked me, I shock my head as a no, "No, not at all. I can't explain here. Let's go up to the Opera's roof, that's the only place you don't risk meeting her." I said, he nodded.
"Wait... Who's that foreign man on the stairs? He's been following me around and he seems to know you..."
"I don't really know who he is, but it is said he is Persian. He asked strange questions about you once..." Raoul said.
"Alright... Pretened like you haven't seen him! Come... I know a quick way to get up on the roof..." I told him.
JENNIE
I found the wedding dress hung over her chair, I took it up to hang it back in the closet but out fell a ring!
I sat down by the bed and observed the ring. It had a dimaond on the center and rubies placed around it. It was new, and not some old family souvenir.
I understood where she had gotten it from and why she had worn it in secret.
I had given her 24 hours to think about her answer and yet I didn't want to listen to it without risking her rejecting me.
When I looked at the ring I understood that I had to let her go if she didn't want to marry me, I had to accept her answer. No tears this time.
I couldn't stay in the house, instead I began making my way to the roof. I needed to be high up, I had to reach the stars. The Apollo statue on the Opera's roof top was probably the closest I could get to God. I had to look at the God which I had all my life denied its exsitence. God was the biggest magican of all times. He could make an ugly worm into a beautiful butterfly, he could probably make fear turn into love.
Tonight I would be on my knees and pray.
"Dear God, please make her love me and I promise to be good for the rest of my life..."
Surerly he could hear me from here.
