The revolutiony war had just ended and it seemed as though the world had finally let out the breath it had been holding. It was lovely. My father came back unharmed and
happy. The British lost. We had won. We were free.

The war had been going on since I was born. Father only fought in
it for three years but that was enough time for me to miss him.

"Oh father" I said loudly when he first came home. "I missed you terribly. Mother sent me to this horrid place." The place I was talking about was the inn. I went there almost every day with other rich girls. There we learn to be proper ladies. Horrible. I hate it. I am fine the way I am.

"I think it's good for you Sabrina"
he said kissing my forehead. "You are too free-sprit." I didn't like his answer and pulled away. "Sabrina grow up" said mother from her spot by the fireplace.

"I'm going to lessons" I said with a pout. Walking out the door and down the dirt path. I could hear mother complaining about me saying I was bad for ruining my father's time and my appearance was a mess.

I knew this was very silly. I was
wearing a very fancy dress that brought out the pink in my cheeks and the red in my brown hair. At least that's what she told me this morning when I said I would never wear it. It is safe to say I'm a tomboy. The only one in the town.

But then again there aren't many people here. We live right in the middle of the woods. All around us is the woods except the road that led out of town.

Our town is so small I know where
everyone lives and their names and family. This is sickening. I never liked it too much. So when I got to the inn I was surprised at the excitement.

I ran to my best friend Maria.
"Maria! Maria!" I called running to her which was hard to do when you have such a heavy dress. When I finally got to her I could see it was something big. Her dark eyes were wide with excitement and her face was red. "Oh Sabrina" she said "there is a new man here who is
staying at the inn." I was disappointed at that. It wasn't such a big deal in my mind. "So?" I asked. I didn't mean to say it out loud. No I did. I always say things I really shouldn't.

"So" said Maria "he is... he is
handsome." That made me roll my eyes. "So one handsome man and girls go crazy" I said crossing my arms "they should leave the poor man alone. He just moved here" Maria looked hurt. "But he is seventeen." She said like it meant any value to me.

Then I saw him. He took my breath
away with his handsomeness. He had dark eyes but light at the same time. Like the moonlight. He had black hair that he pulled back in a pony tail. I could see his muscles from underneath his shirt. His skin was pale. Paler then me. This
is strange, for I have the palest skin in the whole town. He had dark circles under his eyes. A perfect nose. Handsome.

Then I realized I was like all the
other girls drooling at him. I said loudly "well I don't see the big deal."

Maria looked at me like I was crazy and so did everyone around me. Then his eyes looked at me. He hadn't look at any girls but me. He seems to be reading me. That was all I could think after words. He watched me for a good ten minutes before looking away. He looked hungry. That sends chills down my back.

I watched him walk into the darkest part of the woods and disappear.
