This fic takes place after the "Flight of the Pollinators" episode. Spoiler Alert: bro feels and lots of comfort coming your way. Enjoy!
The Wild Kratts crew laughed as they savoured their freshly picked figs, the beautiful sound of bees smoothly buzzing near them.
They had just gotten Chris back from his long absence into the bug world, after nearly two days of tiring and endless search. Everyone was beyond relieved and glad to have their fellow green adventurer back, but no one was more relieved than Martin, for he was the most worried out of them during Chris' disappearance.
Strong emotions of guilt, frustration and fright were still there. Deep within him.
Martin hadn't fully recovered from the incident. He just couldn't stand the idea that they might have never seen Chris again, that he could've lost his precious little brother, knowing it would've been all his fault. The thought itself was enough to bring him intense uneasiness.
He looked down from the tree they were resting on, his eyes met a passing bee, reminding him of the moment Chris was taken away by Bee-ast.
"Martin, you alright bro?" A familiar voice snapped him out of his thoughts. He looked up to find Chris giving him a questioning look. He gulped.
"Uhh, yeah- all good," he stammered, giving him a thumb up.
A look of suspicion on Chris' face told him he wasn't convinced. Fortunately for him, it quickly faded away as it turned back to a typical, cheerful expression.
"If you say so!" Chris chuckled before taking another bite from his fig.
Martin let out a sigh of relief. He was still angry with himself and felt guilty for not telling the truth, but he simply couldn't. His brother was safe and sound and that was all that mattered, he wasn't willing to worry him with his absurd feelings. And so, he bottled up his negative emotions, letting them take full control...
"Guys, look!" Exclamed an amazed Aviva while pointing at a breath taking hummingbeard that happen to fly by. The crew wowed in astonishment, admiring the delicate zipping creature.
Martin faked a smile, hiding the unknown pain to his friends as the day went on, thinking he could keep it that way, or so he thought...
Later at night, while everyone was asleep, one member of the team was battling a perturbing nightmare.
Martin was twirling uncontrollably in bed, his head turning in every direction, the overwhelming scenes playing in his mind drowning him in a world of terror and anxiety, suffocating him in inescapable darkness.
"CHRIS!" He yelled out as he flung up in bed, gasping for air. Tears formed in his eyes faster than he could realize it, his heart was racing and his breathing was almost impossible to control.
Chris, on the other side of the room, was abruptly awoken by his brother's desperate scream, followed by quite sobs. He got up and panically looked around, spotting Martin on his bed. His eyes widened at the sight; his brother's head was burried in his arms as he let out painful sobs.
He rubbed his eyes in disbelief, but it was all real. His older brother was crying in silence.
Concerned, he slowly got out of bed, took small steps until reaching his brother's side of the room. He was hesitant, a lump forming in his throat as he gently placed a hand on his brother's shoulder.
Martin gasped, startled by the sudden and unanticipated touch. He looked up with teary eyes to find a worried and confused Chris looking down at him. He quickly wiped the tears away, leaving distinguishable tear stains on his cheeks, even in the dark.
