The rain dripped down, reflecting the clouded and Misty pandorian skies against the smooth unusual leaves. Unusual to some that is,but not to Kaari,a young female Thanator who had lived all her life within these beautiful forests. She struggled to keep up with her mother,a large Thanator who was walking at a pace that seemed rather fast to Kaaris small legs. She was only a juvenile, and as one she found it very hard to concentrate and not get distracted with the unusual creatures around them. Her mother hissed, sensing how Kaari was falling behind by stopping and looking at insects. Kaari whined. Every muscle in her body ached with pain, after all they had been walking non stop for days without even a minute to rest or eat.

After walking for a while with silence,Kaaris thoughts circled back to a question that seemed to annoy her mother every time she asked. Why had they left their perfect territory? Back in Kaaris home the last thing she could remember before they left was the prey becoming more scarce, parts of her mothers territory just somehow destroyed, and there always being a disgusting smell of 'gasoline' lurking in the air. She still couldn't understand why they had left. They kept on walking, the rain falling against Kaaris smooth scales, cleaning her from her own sweat but also making it harder for Kaari to see. " rest?" She squeaked. She felt as if all the bones in her body would simply collapse under her weight if they kept on walking. Kaari could see her mothers muscles tensing. " more complain more we'll take to get there." Her mother growled in response, slightly speeding up her pace. Kaaris face was sad,but at this point she was used to her mothers attitude.

They walked for so long,Kaaris muscles burned in pain. She was no longer keeping a look out for prolemuris or Pa'li,as walking was consuming most of her energy. She whined, not wanting to be a bother at all-consider how brutal her mother Paëla could be,but she could feel her legs slowly starting to fail and crumble beneath her after every step she took.
Then she dropped.

"Get up."
Kaaris eyes drowsily opened up again. She blinked in confusion, her frills low and sleepy. "Get up." Her mother snarled. Kaari quickly got up,bowing her head as her mothers intimidating aura loomed over her. From her mothers angry glare Kaari was able to guess she was angry, but mostly frustrated. "Keep up. I cannot allow you to fall behind." Paëla hissed angrily. "Y-yes sorry." Kaari whined, bowing her head and shaking slightly. She knew her mother was more than capable of leaving her behind, just as she had done with her previous pups. Kaari had asked about them, but her mother had been extremely defensive about such topic. With that as a threat- Kaari was about to continue walking when they both heard a sound. A distance exposition that made the ground tremble in fear as well. A sounds so loud, that the trees seemed to shake in fear. Kaari screeched, terrified, glancing around at the many creatures fleeing at the sound. But as fast as it had happened it was gone, the only thing left behind being the fear inside every creature nearby. Kaari was left speechless, her small claws gripping onto the mushy mud. Her mother on the other hand, had only widened her eyes and curled her lips, exposing the signature white mouth frill that all thanators had. Without waiting a second longer,Paëla turned around and began walking. Kaari squeaked, struggling to follow her but her own fear giving her more strength.

But it wasn't long until she collapsed again, breathing heavily on the floor. Her eyelids felt so incredibly heavy, and her chest ached in exhaustion. She could see her mothers exhaustion as well, even though she didn't show it as clearly. Paëla hissed, grabbing Kaari by her neck and carrying her towards a fallen log.

There they rested, the fallen log had turned out to be a far greater shelter from the rain than Kaari had imagined. She licked her tongue at the heavy raindrops, clearly dehydrated. Her mother was quiet as usual, her dark and imposing aura always made young Kaari scared and intimidated. After a few hours however, her mother got up from their resting position. Kaari yelped. "W-Where going?" She'd asked her mother with wide eyes. Her body was too weak to continue. "Hunting. Stay." Her mother had told her,a darker tone as she looked back at her pup who was unable to travel further into the forest. "Return soon?" Kaari had practically begged, but to her horror her mother only turned away and stalked off.

Days passed,as she sat there. She waited.

And waited.

And waited.

It seemed like an eternity to a palulukan pup, especially a hungry and tired one. She waited for her mother regardless-she had to return, right?
Kaari closed her eyes, clutching the mossy floor. Her stomach rumbled loudly, making her flinch.
She sobbed.
Then all of a sudden she could smell something,...food!
Kaaris energy shot through her body,as her brain was now completely focused on the amazing smell. It wasn't too far either-she could smell fresh blood nearby, from the same direction her mother had disappeared. Perhaps she had found one and was bringing it here! All these days she had been out hunting, maybe she hadn't abandoned Kaari after all!
She squeaked happily, running over that direction.
"Mom!" She called out. No answer. Kaari began to grow nervous. Everything seemed to have gone silent. Like the silence that comes when a nantang is about to strike.

Then suddenly, she saw them. Giant monsters charging through the forest, burning and annihilating everything in their path. She could see the many creatures attempting to flee, only to get caught or killed by them. The worst part is that through all the cries of despair around her,she could hear them laughing. They seemed to take no notice of her. What could a small pup do against these monsters?
Kaari coughed through the smoke that seemed to be invading her lungs. Her eyes began to sting painfully as she looked around her, suddenly scenting her mother. "Mom!" She screamed, running towards where her mothers track lay. She pressed her body against her,her mothers touch was unusually cold. "Mom?" She squeaked, trembling in fear at her surroundings. She wanted to hide,to run.but her body was paralyzed in fear as she crouched down besides her mother. There was no response.
"Wake up! Please!" Kaari urged, noticing her mothers body was redder than her usual pattern.
Her heart sunk when she realized she wasn't going to wake up. One of those monsters had ripped her throat out. Kaari screamed,in anger, pain and fear. She touched forehead with her mother one last time before widening her eyes at a large monster. He could see the creature that was guilty inside the machine, his face was torn by a fresh scar. Kaari roared as loudly as she could, before running away.
She didn't know how,but she just kept on running, not looking back,as she knew these monsters would stop at nothing to tear this jungle apart. Kaari couldn't help but feel her tears falling down her face as she ran and ran.

She didn't once look back, until she found a large tree with a burrow and quickly crawled in there, trembling and shivering with fear.
