002 - Steve Harrington

The Monster

I grab Nancy's had and we start to run in the opposite direction.

"Jonathan!" Nancy and I start to yell.

"Nancy!" We hear him yell back.

"Jonathan!" Nancy yells as we come to a stop.

"Jonathan we're right here!" I yell.

"Dani, follow the sound of my voice!" Jonathan yells

We go to turn around only to find the tall, thin, monster, standing in-between two trees. I pull Nancy into a different direction and we hide behind a tree. It's getting closer. But so is Jonathan's voice. The monster walked behind Nancy and I.

"Nancy! Dani! Follow my voice!" We hear Jonathan say.

I look to my right and see the tree that we came through. The monster screeches from our left, looking for us. I gently push Nancy to go first. She starts to crawl through the hole, which is visibly getting smaller. I'm still standing behind the tree when I hear the monster coming back.

Looks like it's time to see if these powers work after all.

I run over to the gate, but I turn around when I hear the monster's screech from right behind me.

"Dani! Hurry, it's closing!" Nancy yells from the other side.

I see the monster in the distance coming quickly at me, I won't have enough time to make it through before it comes after me.

I hold my hand up, scared shitless, and use my fear to push the monster away from me. I scream and it flies back in-between the trees, giving me enough time to escape.

"Dani!" I hear Jonathan and Nancy yell.

I make my way through the tree, almost getting stuck a few times on the way through. Once I get close enough, I stick my hand out, through the other side. I feel hands grab my own and start to pull me the rest of the way out. I land on top of Jonathan and Nancy. 

The gate closes.

We make it back to Nancy's house. Nancy lets me shower first. I forgot to bring clothes in the bathroom with me. So, I put my glasses on, wrap a towel tightly around me, and walk down the hallway. I awkwardly knock on Nancy's bedroom door and ask for some clothes. 

"Here you go." She says as she hands me a big shirt and shorts. "I'm going to go take a shower now." 

Nancy walks past me out of the bedroom and straight into the bathroom. I awkwardly look back at Jonathan. Who then awkwardly looks back at me.

"Oh, right. Sorry." He says shyly as he walks past me to stand in the hallway.

I walk into Nancy's bedroom and lay the clothes on the bed. I turn around facing the door and put the shorts on under the towel. I turn around to grab the t-shirt when I notice something in the window move. When I look closer, I don't see anything. 

Relax, Dani.

 I say to myself and take a deep breath  I turn back around, drop the towel and put the shirt on. Once I'm done, I open the door for Jonathan to come back in.

"I'm going to go downstairs with the boys." I say quietly.

"Okay."

I quietly make my way downstairs to the basement where I know the boys are. It's only Mike and Dustin. They're still awake and I can't help but say,
