It was that time of year, the grand Sakura Festival. Once every year, each clan would lay down their disputes with each other and enjoy twenty-four hours of peace. Everyone in Konoha was allowed to come, after all it was a Festival, and there was no day happier. It was also the day where the children of the clans were acquainted with their future enemies.
Young Kira Uzuki, six years old and naïve, always enjoyed going to the festival. Her room was on the cliff, overseeing the whole thing, even the massive wind powered Ferris wheel. She was the second child of Nariko Uzuki and Takahiro Uzuki, the third Generation. She was also the eldest daughter, however, and had three younger siblings, and therefore needed to serve as a good example. From birth, she was betrothed to her older cousin, Hikaru Uzuki, who was believed to carry demons of protection in him. Each child in the Uzuki clan was named after gods and goddesses, as Kira herself was known to be the dragon kami-sama, but that was all a myth.
Kira approached her favorite watching spot, a peak clearing completely surrounded by thick forestry, when she was met with a surprise; a young boy had taken her spot, back facing her. She stared at the boy, curious. This spot couldn't really be found by accident, someone must have had to look hard to find it.
"Hey!" Kira peeped up, and he turned around with a jump. It was a Hyuga, she could tell, who was wearing a dark brown kimono. His eyes were milky white with a hint of gray, and he had the look of wonderment and surprise on his face. His hands were not seen, for they were clasped together in front of him, the sleeves covering it. He was a little taller than her, about two inches. He had slightly cocked his head, before fixing his composure to look more formal and not scared.
The boy faced Kira, body clenched as if preparing for impact. He had not expected to meet a girl, though the squeaky high pitched voice implied. Kira looked like to him, just another small girl, with her petite delicate looking frame, almost frail if her voice hadn't risen high enough to sound tough. At first glance, it would seem like her little buns tighed atop of her head was the color of raven feathers, but once it hit the sheen of the light, he could tell that it was the color of periwinkle moon blooms, dark and soft. Her features were sharp, and her eyes were strange. They weren't like his, or any Uchihas'. They weren't normal either. They looked as if it had belonged to a dragon, for instead of round pupils in the sea of awe-struck indigo, they were slitted pupils. The look it gave him, it was like a glare, calculating, judging, and held secrets behind locked doors. Her skin was a light caramel, and her kimono was embroidered with gold dragons on a black canvas.
"Hello." The boy finally spoke. "Who are you?"
"This is my spot." Kira responded, not listening to the question well. "What are you doing here?"
"Your spot? No its not. It's on Hyuga soil." He frowned. "How'd you find this place?"
"...A little bird told me." She smiled, proudly using a phrase her older brother Kai had taught her.
"That doesn't make sense. Birds don't talk." The boy smiled, finding her use of strange language funny. "Wanna sit with me?"
"Okay..." Kira cautiously walked around him, circling until she found a spot not too close to where he stood, and sat down, feet dangling over the edge.
The boy widened his eyes, nervous."Aren't you scared?" He gave her a worried look. She was just a little kid, and if she slipped there wasn't much he could do. "You might fall."
"No. I've got guts!" Kira smiled brightly at him, the attitude contagious. She was rebellious in her own little way, and Neji loved it.
"M-me too!" He sat down next to her with a thump, taking off his sandals and letting the wind brush between his toes. He smiled, a shy one, but grew brighter as he got more comfortable. "I'm Neji. You?"
