NOTE: The first two chapters is mostly about Kira. To go to where Neji reappears, go to Chapter Three, though I recommend you read the first two chapters.
Thanks for reading! -Rei
Awaken. Third Generation, Kira Uzuki. Type: Dragon Shinobi.
The alarm by her bedside repeated over and over, in the voice of the Headmaster. Kira slowly opened her eyes, her arm roughly slapping the alarm and turning it off as it fell to the floor. She laid, sleepily staring at the ceiling and said no words. She did this routinely, counting the spots up on the ceiling until she could wake up. The highest she got to was 572, before Kai barged in and dragged her out of bed. Literally.
"Ki-ra!!" Kai called out, his voice ringing through her head. He was older, 19 years old to be exact, attracted many ladies, but as far as she could see, he didn't like any of them. Most end up as only a one night stand. "Kira! Wake up! Headmaster hates it when you sleep in so late. You'll miss class!" His voice got louder, more clear, and Kira bolted up. She blinked hard, acting wide awake as Kai bursted through the door. His shaggy long black hair was tied into a ponytail, reaching in between his shoulder blades. His lizard eyes were sharper than when they were as a child; face features sharper. His frame was lanky, but what he lacked in the tough male features, he made up in strength, stealth, and buffness. Though he looked thin, if he flexed the ladies would fall (at least the shallow ones).
Kira grunted, glaring at him and saying what she always said. "I swear by the full moon, if I get the chance I will stab you until you bleed to death, then you will know the suffering of lack of sleep." She growled, and Kai laughed. Kira had grown too, over the years after the massacre. Her long hair had stayed long, ending between her lower shoulder blades. Her eyes were no longer filled with curiosity and wonderment, for now they rested in a dark void of emptiness and hell. They didn't twinkle the same way they did. It was all full of calculations of how fast she can attack, flee, and heal. How strong could she be. How much people could she kill. How much time does it take for her to heal, all of this in order to survive, unlike the others. Her petite frame had grown more muscle, more height. Her figure could use the curves, but that she didn't care. She would bind her chest, so that they wouldn't be bouncing around and hurting when she sparred and trained. Kira had honed her body to be built out of pure muscle and speed. If looks could kill, her glare would annihilate the competition. Kira was small, 5'2, but made up for it in speed and intelligence.
"My my, you look like you're hungover." Kai sat next to her with a thump, wrinkling his nose in disgust. "And you smell like sweat. Jeez, when did you last shower?" He had a wooden brush in his hand, teasing the mess that was Kira's hair. She groaned every time her head was tugged back, and slapped his knee once or twice because he kept laughing.
"I couldn't take a bath last night. Headmaster called." Kira grumbled. She was tired, angry, and irritated. She hated this day.
Her clan was killed this day.
Every day, on this day, she was allowed to be excused from classes in her prison, in the Academy for Gifted Children, raised to be sent to villages who needed more Anbu Black Ops. She remembered the night of the massacre so clearly, and she remembered how she got away...
"Kira." Kai tugged on a strand of her hair, and she snapped out of her trance with a yelp.
"Oi! Enough with the tugging, eh? You've done enough of that the last five minutes!" Kira narrowed her eyes at her brother, who laughed. She rolled her eyes, mumbling more swear words under her breath as she brushed her hair with long gentle strokes. It quickly began to detangle itself, and became soft and tame.
