It was a free day for Andy and Robert. Since they weren't going to work, they were excited to spend the whole day together.

In the morning they took a walk through the park. Later, they had lunch at a Latin restaurant that Andy loved. During the afternoon, they went to the mall, watched a movie at the cinema and then decided to do some shopping.

The day was perfect and they cherished those moments when they put all work matters aside and could just be a couple in love, creating happy memories.

While they were at the mall, passing by a watch store, Robert decided to enter the store.

Robert: I want to buy a watch in this store. They have some really nice models.

Andy: Good. You really like watches and I can already see from the window that there will be some models that suit you. While you make your purchase, I will go to the bathroom and return shortly.

Robert: Deal.

He gave his wife a kiss and then entered the store.

Seller: Good afternoon.

Robert: Good afternoon. I would like to see some models of your watches.

The salesman took Robert to the right corner of the store, where there were some simple watches, which Robert did not like.

Robert: Well, actually, I really like the silver one that's in the window.

Seller: Sorry, but that watch is part of a restricted collection and its value is much higher than the watches I'm showing you.

Robert: All right. I would like to try it anyway.

Seller: As I was saying, this watch is more expensive and only select customers are allowed to try them on.

Robert was wondering how the salesman was talking. Robert knew the value of that watch and had the money to buy it.

Robert: Okay. I understood that this is an expensive watch and I am really interested in it.

While Robert was talking to the salesperson, another customer entered the store and was served by another salesperson. Robert noticed that the watch he wanted was being shown to the new customer without any restrictions.

Robert looked closely at the other customer and saw that he was a white man, with blond hair and light eyes, wearing only shorts and a tank top. He didn't look like a rich or famous man. He was just an ordinary man.

Robert: Well, I would like to know what the criteria are for being considered a select customer, since your co-worker is showing the watch I want to another customer who is apparently just another customer.

Seller: Look, if you keep insisting, I'm going to need to call mall security. You'd better withdraw from my store before I call you or your situation will get pretty bad.

From the things he was hearing and seeing, Robert understood what he was trying not to believe. The seller was treating him this way because he thought not only that Robert would not be able to pay the value of the watch, but also because he thought that he was a thief. And all this probably because of his color.

Robert was still talking to the salesman, who remained unyielding. At that moment, he noticed that the other customer left the store without buying the watch. Robert was enraged by the story, but he was still trying to remain calm.
