"Well if your in my service, your first job is to get my phone."
I said looking back over the balcony, my phone was definitely shattered to pieces down there somewhere.
"Yeeeah I can find it but it's definitely not going to be in working condition."
She walked over to the door to start her search but stopped once she grabbed the door knob.
"Oh, you're needed in the science lab. They want you to meet with our head scientist, Shuri. You need to head to the basement, just take the elevator down the hall."
Enwo said as she ran off to find my phone. I made my way down the hall to the elevator and was greeted by Dora Milaje guarding the elevator. They saluted me and let me pass, I pressed the basement button and went down. I heard about Shuri and her amazing technology and discoveries, I'm a little excited to get to pick her brain about how she came up with the designs for the weapons they use. The elevator doors open up and the realness of the situation hit me, I'm in wakanda about to meet one of the smartest people in the world. I looked in the nearest reflective surface and fixed up my 30 inch Brazilian bust down and made sure my mocha skin was glowing.
"So are you done dolling up or do you need a couple minutes?"
Someone scoffed sarcastically. I turn around and see Shuri standing there with her arms crossed.
"Hey, I was just making sure my hair looked alright."
Shuri looked me up and down slowly, it felt as if she was picking me apart and dissecting me with just her eyes.
"You should be making sure the rest of you looks alright, what are those?"
She said pointing to my beat up vans. I was at a loss for words, who would've guessed Shuri, the smartest woman in the world would be such a bitch.
"First off-"
"Anyways let me show you around the lab."
Shuri cut me off turning around and walking away expecting me to follow. I curse under my breath and follow along seeing all this high tech lab equipment, it felt like I was looking at a movie set.
"This sure is different from the lab at Avalon."
I thought to myself eyeing this ironman like suit standing in a display case.
"Hey whats-"
"Look out!!"
Shuri yelled as I was suddenly pushed out the way from an incoming purple blast. I opened my eyes to see Shuri on top of me, our eyes meet for a moment. Her dark brown eyes that rolled at me now were filled with the concern for my well being but as soon as I noticed Shuri pushed off of me.
"Are you Americans that oblivious?"
She rolled her eyes not even offering to help me up. I pulled myself up now annoyed with her attitude but I held back my building anger and swallowed it. She showed me around explaining everything that each equipment did in a condescending tone.
"Any questions? No? Good, now I want you to replicate that formula you made. Do you think you could do that or was it dumb luck?"
She smirked smugly and walked off, as soon as she left I grabbed a beaker and threw it against the wall in rage. Enwo saw this when she entered and looked visibly concerned.
"Are you okay?"
She asked putting a hand on my shoulder, I took a deep breath trying to calm myself down.
"Yes, just- Is Shuri a jerk to everybody?"
I asked wanting to make sure it wasn't just me.
"A jerk? What do you mean? She's nice to me, she even gave me this sweet sword."
She clicked her palm twice and a hilt was formed, she then pressed a button and a blade made out of purple plasma formed.
"Woah!"
I exclaimed in awe at just how cool it looked. If Shuri wasn't such an asshole I would compliment her on the craftsmanship.
"So then I guess she's just a jerk to me."
"Hey maybe she just needs to get use to you? I mean you are an outsider no offense."
"Maybe you're right, did you ever find my phone?"
"Oh yeah here."
She hands me a shattered mangled phone and with a sigh I am gifted my first project, fix my phone.
