The film has been wrapped for three weeks. Since then, Y/N and Hailee have become closer. It's Hailee's brother's birthday right now, and she wants to invite Y/N as a plus one.

"'You sure It's gonna be okay?" he contemplated as they both stood in front of Hailee's parent's front door.

"Yes! They love you. Even my little cousins think you'd be a perfect boyfriend" Hailee reassured him excitedly.

The thought of Hailee's family being so accommodating makes Y/N blush. But keep in mind, neither of them confirmed that they are dating. They like to think that they're just friends who are insanely suspiciously close.

His thoughts were cut off as Hailee's mother, Cherie, opened the door and welcomed the two.

He was greeted by the minimalistic decorations and the aroma of food which he couldn't wait to taste.
"Oh! You must be Y/N. I'm Hailee's father, Peter. But you can call me Pete if you'd like." Peter held out his hand as he introduced himself. Y/N gladly took it and shared an awkward chuckle.

Hailee could hear the nervousness in his voice. She places his hand on Y/N's shoulder "We'll just be heading outside, Dad. I'll go help Uncle Terry with the barbecue."

"Don't be nervous, he's the nicest guy." She whispers to him.

"I wasn't nervous, I was just simply starstruck to finally be able to meet your dad."

She laughs at his remark. They head on out towards the backyard.

Normally Y/N isn't all for being in a social circle with people he isn't familiar with, but this time he had no choice. It's an opportunity for him to get to know more about Hailee's family, in which on the same night he plans to ask permission from her father to ask Hailee to become his girlfriend.

Lingering second thoughts caved his head as he sat down by the barbeque.

Is she going to be okay with this?
Is she gonna say yes?
Is this gonna distort our friendship?

But then again they are very close friends so there's nothing to worry about, right?...

His circle of thoughts was then cut off when Hailee sat next to him, with a phone in hand. The screen seems to be screenshots of text messages with someone.

"I have something to tell you," Hailee says.

Y/N raised his eyebrows with curiosity "What?"

"So you know that actor who was supposed to play Romeo but then you got the part because of schedule problems?"

"Oh, Douglas?"

Ah yes, Douglas. He was a good friend of Y/N. He was supposed to take on the role of Romeo but then his schedule couldn't budge so he recommended the casting director, Y/N. It ended up being such a wise decision as it blossomed into this natural chemistry with his co-star and on-screen lover.

"Last night he messaged me and asked if he wanted to hang out on Melrose Avenue. He wants me to show him around LA"

Messaged her?

"I didn't know you and Douglas were friends." He subtly grumbled.

"It's a long story. But he wants me to come alone and plus I think he's cute"Hailee excitedly spluttered as it left Y/N in a perplexed demeanor.

No words or thoughts could come out of Y/N "Well it's completely up to you." He insisted.

The brunette immediately plasters a smile on her face as she looks at him "Alright. I'm going. I'll tell you if anything happens"

Y/N flashes her a weak smile before she excuses herself towards her swarm of cousins.

Not everything goes according to plan, eh? Now Y/N's whole night is fucked up with thoughts of another guy wanting Hailee, let alone Hailee reciprocating those feelings.
It befuddled his thoughts as he looked back on the intimate moments he shared with Hails, the kisses on the cheek, the tight never-ending comforting hugs, and of course, the kisses they shared while filming Romeo & Juliet. PROFESSIONAL Kisses!

Did those mean nothing to her? Why would she go for some other guy if this one already experienced a huge percentage of her love? Don't tell me it was just an "Act of friendship appreciation" because no way in hell you wouldn't develop some sort of romantic feelings if you kept up with this act with your "friends"

Throughout the entire night, he had a hard time lifting his spoon and fork as he lost his appetite.
Hailee notices this and begins to ponder what's bothering him "Hey, you barely touched your plate. Are you okay? Is the food bad? I swear we marinated it the night before" She rattled on.

"No, no. It's fine, I'm not really a Ribs guy" Liar. He ordered 2 plates of ribs the other day at the steakhouse downtown.

"Oh well we have mash potatoes and mac and cheese" She suggested.

"Nah it's okay. I'd feel like a little kid if those were the only things on my plate" He weakly cackled slicing into the tender pork.

Hailee nodded her head as she returned to the conversation she had with her mother.

All Y/N did that night was..

Overthink

Eat

Drink (Not alcohol, he's still underage)

And engaged in minor conversations.

The party soon came to an end as there was only a handful of people left. Y/N finally had the courage to stand up and inform Hailee and her parents that he was going to take his exit. Not forgetting to leave his gratitude and respect.

Walking out of that door didn't change anything, he may have left his appreciation and high regards towards Hailee and her family but the worried thoughts never did.

I guess we're just gonna have to wait and see what comes out of this.
