Part 7: New work

Vegas POV

So, I am starting my new job and working for the main family. I went to the house of the Main family. Everyone looked happy! "Oh Vegas", Thankun greeted me upon seeing me. He was not happy seeing me, but faked it well! The bare minimum I could do was smile at him to greet him.

There was an awkwardness in our look, cause I came here as a worker and not as their cousin or a member of the secondary family.

"Mr. Vegas Kinn calls you inside", Big informed me seeing me waiting. As I entered, I saw Kinn, sitting in his chair comfortably and working with a few paperwork spread before him. There was a picture of him and Porche hugging on his table.

"Vegas, There is a particular reason, I need to take you back into business. You know the Chu's from China right ", he asked me.

"Yes, I know ", I confirmed.

The chu's are great powerful Mafias similar to the Theerakanuls. Zong Chu was the head of the family and recently with his death, there was a break of internal war among the chus. The Sons of Chu are seeking the support of great mafia gangs all across the world. Zong Chu has two sons, Yuxuan and Jing

"One of the two sons of the Zong sought the help of the Government officials to succeed in his plan of succession. If the government gets involved, then there would be a great threat to Theerakanul's family, Your task is to find which of the Chu does this and report me, and we will take care of things after that"

This seems a real issue because the primary rule in surviving in the industry is never to trust the government in a succession of powers. After all, they always lure you get the snitch from you, and destroy the gangs to the core.

"I will take care of it Kinn!", I assured.

Getting off the chair, Kinn approached me, and patted my shoulders, saying, "I know this would be difficult for you to work along with me, here are the documents", he handed me a few documents regarding the Chus.

His sentence hurt me, I was once in a position to give away orders, but now I am receiving orders from Kinn!

I made a little smile at him assuring everything would be fine! "We take care of everything you need as discussed earlier!", he said mentioning the expense and the security we asked for my family!

I came out of Kinn's room to the main area, where I came in direct contact with Korn Theerakanul, the one who killed my father, who was playing chess with his bodyguard. He glared at me, and I glared him back, but I did not want him to know that I still carried the vengeance in my heart so I smiled instantly after seeing him and headed back home before picking up Macau from his school.

"P' Vegas, I already told you I can come home myself, why do you bother picking me up?"

The answer to his question is so simple, I don't want to lose any of my close ones anymore, but I don't want to make him terrified.

"I just happened to visit nearby!", I said grabbing the steering wheel a little stronger.

"P' can I ask you something......Are you working for the main family?"

I was shocked to hear how he knew about it! I pulled the car by the side of the road and looked deeply at him.

"How do you know?", I asked.

"I overheard yesterday while you were talking to Pete!"

His eyes felt sympathy for me, not particularly for me, but for our situation. The way we lost our father and had to work under the main family for our living to save ourselves from our past enemies.

"Yes Macau, I am working for them in exchange for protection for my family"

"But you don't have to do that you know!", he asked concerned.

"I am doing in return for the protection for us from the main family and the return of 10 percent of our men!", I argued.

He went silent and I drove back home, where my sweetheart would be waiting for me! "P' Vegas, do you know P' Porche's brother has also joined our school!"

"Oh", I just nodded and listened.

"He could not even make a single friend, my friends somehow knew that he was my cousin and they were teasing us! And not to mention, he is too prone to bully attack and I felt guilty to let people bully him and helped him today!", he narrated.

Expected. Since Porche is the charge of the minor family, no wonder there would be a heavy income of cash flow and he had changed to the school of his brother!

But the other thing, that my brother stood up against the bully of Porchaya was surprising because he never helps anyone that easily!

As expected, Pete was at home, waiting for me. As soon as I entered along with Macau, he asked me questions through his eyes as to how things went! After Macau went to his room, directly he asked me, "How did your meeting go?", he asked me.

"Yeah, good, I guess. I was assigned a job in China! So, I would be leaving soon!", I informed him.

"Super! I am so excited to see you back on track!", he hugged me in excitement.

"Yeah!", I smiled back at him concealing the millions of pains behind them.

"So, you won't be missing me while I was gone!", I teased him.

"No.....I won't be missing you!", he answered playfully. A minute later, "Vegas, my grandmother has called to visit her! Once you complete your mission, can we go and visit her?", he asked pleading.

"Once I finish, we are going to visit her! Okay!", hugged him by his waist and pulled him closer to me.

When Pete went back to setting up the table for dinner, I got a call. It's from an unknown number.

"Hello, who is this?", I asked waiting for the other end to respond. But no one answered.

"Hello!", I asked again. I assured them it was the wrong number and cut my phone. But deep inside my mind, I had the same fear, if it was someone I had previously known coming back to me as a vengeance.

After all, KARMA IS A BOOMERANG! You don't know when things favor you or go against your wishes!
