(Time skip)
I pulled up to my brother's house a few hours ago, I had just finished putting my stuff in the guest room a few days ago. He had a 2 bedroom apartment, he could afford much more, but he prefers a more compact life style.
I placed my picture of my mother under my pillow after moving it from the dresser, I began to cry. *Knock knock* "come in" I said while chocking back sobs. "Hey Odessa?" Callum said in a hushed tone while walking in. "Yes Callum?"
"Please take a shower and get ready for supper." He said nodding towards the bathroom across the hall and then walked down the hall to the kitchen. I grabbed a loose pair of joggers and a hoodie.
*After showering*
"Callum?" I waited for his reply. "yes mittens?" I internally was protesting at my childhood nickname that my older brother had given me. "Is supper ready dove boy?" I mocked him. "Yes actually, also I told you to stop mocking my name it hurts my feelings." He said dramatically."It's not my fault your name means dove, bird boy." I said with a giggle. That's the first time I'd laughed since mother died. "It's nice to hear you laugh mittens." Callum said in a beat tone. "Don't go crying on me Callum James!" I punched his shoulder.
"Ouch! I might actually cry now. Your punches hurt." Callum stated in a baby voice. "I know it hurts, you big baby!" I said enthusiastically. "Just sit down and eat your fish and chips. You little brat" Callum said jokingly as we both sat at the table.
I put a bite of the food in my mouth, it tasted like heaven compared to the junk I have been eating for the past 2 days in my post-depression state. "Enjoying the food much?" Was he making fun of me!? "Are you making fun of me?" Simple answer. "Yes" I broke put into laughter.
