"Girl, I thought you left us without a proper goodbye, I almost went to your house!" Somi exclaims as she pulls you in for a tight hug in the middle of the lobby outside Namjoon's office.
You pat Somi's back before pulling away, a small smile playing on your lips to avoid suspicion. You aren't sure if she's seen you leaving the Ceo's office and that makes you uneasy. Hence, the strained look on your face.
"Of course not. I've just been extremely busy the last few days." You explain half-heartedly, albeit the times you have sprawled on your boyfriend's office desk just a few minutes ago before you finally urged him to stop in case someone walked in on you both going at it like starved animals. Though neither of you has been open about your relationship, this is the first time you've returned since your little getaway.
Regardless of the disagreements you and Namjoon may have, you can't bring yourself to be upset with him because, in a way, he has a point. As much as you care about the public reaction, he doesn't.
That's the least of his worries. And for the time being, he is the only one in protest of hiding your relationship, for your sake. He knows you aren't ready yet.
Granted, you've had plenty of time to break the news to your parents, which may or may not have already reached their ears due to your rowdy younger brother, who may have decided to rat you out just because he is in disagreement with you and this entire 'situation-ship' you have with Namjoon, or whatever you want to call it.
As the big sister you are, you know better than to leave everything as is, and sooner than later, your first move should be mending things with Sunho. It's only a matter of letting your pride go and letting his fretting subside.
Instead of preparing for your first day of work at the law firm, the concerns of your family matter, and the little to no time Namjoon is giving you to pack your life and move in with him all in a matter of one week, feels overwhelming. It seems you hadn't planned out what's waiting for you once you finally resign from being Namjoon's assistant.
This is even more stressful. It's like you're back to square one— building your life back together.
You don't feel any regrets, but whatever challenges are yet to come, you know you have no other choice but to keep your head straight.
It's as if Somi senses your sorrows because she pulls you back in her embrace. "You'll miss us, right?"
You can't help but let out a small laugh.
"Gosh, you are so emotional. I'm not leaving the country, Somi."
She frowns and pulls away, adjusting her skirt. It's a relief to know you won't have to wear those pointy heels during long work hours, she thinks to herself. Being a part of Namjoon's team required a lot of energy and endurance, so the job no longer felt right. It's not that being a lawyer or working with a legal team will be any easier; you just think the hours of effort will be much more rewarding when you enjoy and love what you do.
It may not get easier, but it does feel good to be able to put your skills to good use this time.
"I know that," Somi agrees. "I just can't believe you're leaving us for good."
"Namjoon trusts your input as much as he did mine, you have nothing to worry about," you assure her and Somi looks at you with widened eyes.
"W-what...?" Somi croaks out, unsure of what she just heard from your mouth. "Did you just... call him by his name?"
