I took a deep breath as I, for the last time, straightened my skirt and checked my that my hair was perfect. I could already feel the cameras on me and the car windows were black from the outside. Mother turned around and smiled at me. I knew she was a bit emotional, her first baby girl off to high school. I smiled back gave both mother and father a kiss and said goodbye. The driver came around and opened my door and I stepped outside of the car, leaving my old self behind and starting a new path as a respectful teenage.

As soon as I stepped into the school gates I was greeted by Head Mistress Alsbrook. She seemed very bubbly and shook my hand firmly but warmly. She was a stereotypical English head mistress, dressed in a long tartan green skirt with a matching blazer worn with a white collared shirt, stockings and shiny black flats.

"Hello Ms Windsor, lovely to have you here."

"Please, call me Charlotte." I told her with a smile. "I prefer that."

"Oh of course, Charlotte, please, come right this way and i'll show you to your home group classroom and introduce you to your teachers and classmates, this is where......."

She talked on and on and I listened for the first few seconds I promise, but very quickly my mind was taken elsewhere. I'm talking about the schools grounds. They were truly impressive, unlike the beautiful gardens we had at home at Kensington Palace, the gardens were full with ripe fruit trees and blossoming flowers, even though it was the winter season. It was extravagant, I hope I will be able to inquire who is maintaining them and congratulate them on their efforts.

We had walked for a long time and I was starting to get a sense of how big the school actually was. Finally we rounded the last corner and Mrs Alsbrook guided me through a wide door and into a hallway, buzzing with girls chatting happily. This must be the main corridor for my year level. She then directed me through a doorway and into a quiet room full of identical chairs and tables and books and stationary perfectly laid out on each.

A young looking lady quickly approached us and extended her hand.

"Ms Hammersley," She said "I will be your home-group teacher from this year."

"Charlotte," I replied shaking her friendly hand. "I'm very excited to start, where shall i sit?"

Ms Hammersley guided to my seat and I said goodbye to Mrs Alsbrook.
