The institute came into view as Alec Lightwood turned round the corner of the street, taking a deep breath. He had thought about this for a long time but he still was unsure about it. When his parents said they needed to talk to him he knew something was wrong. His parents had said it in a slow voice as if they were speaking to a child. "Alec this might be hard for you but, your getting older and..." He had known all along his parents wouldn't accept his differences. "We thought that maybe you could think about changing. Maybe Magnus thinks the same so we brought him here."
"You what!"
He was apparently standing at the doorway the whole time, hearing everything. Magnus shuffled foward a bit.
"Alexander" he croaked.
"Magnus" he begged "Please let's talk"
"You've been ignoring my calls". He looked down, then sighed. "I guess that means were done."
"But Magnus." Magnus spun on his heel and left the room. Alec had never felt so angry and releived. He shot an angry look a his parents, who were gaping in shock, than ran after Magnus. Magnus had apparently only walked a few steps, When he muttered: "I am going to the bathroom". And then left. He let Magnus get to the to of the stairs then followed.

The institute came into view as Alec Lightwood turned round the corner of the street, taking a deep breath. He had thought about this for a long time but he still was unsure about what it was all about. When his parents said they needed to talk to him, he knew something was wrong. His parents had said it in a slow voice, stretching the words, as if they were speaking to a child. "Alec, this might be hard for you, but... You're getting older, and..." He had known all along his parents wouldn't accept his differences. Just the fact that they hadn't unclaimed him as their son had been too good to be true. He had been living in a dream.
"We thought that maybe you could think about changing. And maybe, Magnus agrees with us." Maryse's eyes slipped from Alec's for a second, darting to the left and back at his shocked face. But her son was quick to catch it and gaze the direction she had stolen a glance to.
Standing there, leaning on the doorframe like all the tiredness of the years he had lived had suddenly hit him, was Magnus. As white as snow and completely glitter-less, his face looked unnaturally pale and tired. Dark circles stood out under his cat's eyes, and his hair hung limply from his head.
"You-what!"
Horrified at his parents' cruelty, the words that they had quietly uttered, and Magnus's presence, had a heavy effect on Alec. He felt like his parents had pointed a gun at his head, and Magnus had pulled the trigger.
"Alexander" he croaked.
"Magnus" Alec begged, "Please let's talk"
"You've been ignoring my calls". Magnus looked down, ignoring Alec's words, then sighed. "I guess that means we're done."
"But-Magnus!"
Magnus spun on his heel and walked out of the room, looking unsteady on his long legs. Alec had never felt angry and relieved. It felt like his heart was hot and cold at the same time. He shot an angry look at his parents, who were gaping in shock at the scene in front of them, then ran after Magnus. Magnus had apparently only walked a few steps when he muttered: "I am going to the bathroom". And then left. He let Magnus get to the top of the stairs then followed.
If it's qgoing to end, he thought, it won't end like this.
He stormed up the stairs and into his bedroom where he found Isabelle and Simon sitting together on the edge of the bed with their fingers intertwined together, looking very alarmed.
"Alec, are you okay?"
"No". "Please go" he said sharply, his voice cracking. Isabelle and Simon both nodded once and left silently. He spun around to apologize. Then he saw him. Magnus locked eyes with him. Alec read sadness and tiredness in his eyes. His cat eyes looked shattered and hurt. Then they were shouting.
