you have always had a crush on scott. you never told him out of fear he'd shoot you down. so you continued just being his friend. but it was hard when you watched him date other people. especially because those people only cared about his status as lacrosse team captain.

you saw scott sitting at a table surrounded by girls. you approached him, saying you needed to speak with him.

"scott, you know those don't appreciate you for you, right?" you said to him, he raised a brow at you, confused. "they like you because you're lacrosse captain, that's it."

"i don't care," he said, which angered you. "at least they treat me like i'm somebody."

"well, would they love you if you were nobody?" you asked.

"nobody loved me when i was nobody," he retorted.

you crossed your arms over your chest. "i did, scott." scott was taken aback. your eyes filled with tears. "i did, i always have."

scott went to say something but you walked away before he could.
