The red haired woman who had attended the auction had disappeared by the time the guards had arrived leaving us with no proof that it had been Madame Benela, but after that night I could see behind her faux smile that she was nervous. It's been a week since my arrival and throughout the week I have grown closer to the red rose under the pretext of her being the only one to understand me. I report to the Princess about all of the details of our conversations. It however seems as though the others have seemingly back tracked away from me; even Nell seemed to close himself off just a bit.
"Y/n? Are you listening?" The Madame asks as she places her tea cup down. I snap my head up and nervously laugh. Tucking a piece of hair behind my ear I lift my cup up with my other hand but don't take a sip.
"Yes, I apologize, I spaced out for a moment, Madame," I say with small smile as I take a drink.
"Oh, no, dear, you don't need to apologize I understand," The red head says. "But anyways, how have you been doing?" Looking down at my cup I shake my head with a somber look.
"Oh, it's...hm...," I trail off. "Good, I...guess."
"You guess?" She asks with a false curiosity.
"Well...I feel as though I'm shunned and cornered when compared to the men," I begin. The red rose hums in agreement. "I'm not respected like them because of my commoner background, I still struggle with the etiquette of the empire, and I can't pretend to ignore the bad mouthing of the people against the Princess having a female 'jewel'."
"I understand, truly," The Madame says with fake pity. "Ah, that reminds me. In a few days an exclusive group of women gather together to talk to one another; they are called the Lovely Women's Society. I just so happen to be one of them, and each one of the ladies is allowed to bring a female plus one. Would you like to be mine?" I look at her in surprise and put down my cup. 'Did she just invite me to attend the Lovely Women's Society? Wait is this how they join? Gosh, why have I never paid attention to anything happening there!'
"Oh, Madame Benela, I would be honored, but as you can see I have few outfits befitting such a regal group," I say in false shame as I twiddle with my f/c bralette top. The red woman nods in agreement.
"Yes, I agree. I did think that far ahead." 'She did?!' "That's why I plan to take you shopping for dresses fit for different occasions. Although I doubt we should buy any f/c; It's not your color." Before I can say anything one of the Princess's handmaids Marina comes running over.
"Lady Y/n, the Princess is looking for you," licking my lips I Nod then turn to look at the Madame.
"I'm sorry, but if the Princess calls well...," I trail off. She nods in understanding but I can tell behind the mask she is very much annoyed whether at the Princess, Marina, or me It does not matter. Standing with a quick bow I follow the girl to the Princess's room; Marina knocks on the door.
"Come In!" The Princess calls out. I enter and see the Princess laying in bed reading a book quietly. "Y/n, come here." With some hesitance I climb in next to her. I lean on her shoulder and read the book. It seems rather boring and something the Princess typically wouldn't read. Looking up at her I raise a brow.
"Princess?"
"Okay here me out, I need help!" She pleads. I slink away slowly from the bed. "I got into a bit of trouble and now I'm being forced to read this book! It's sooo boring! Please tell me you have anything interesting going on."
"Well, Princess, I had just been having tea with the...what do you call her...ah yes the 'witch'," I say as I resume laying by her side. I tuck a strand of her silvery hair behind her ear as she glares at empty air even thinking about the Madame.
