vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv- shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh-

The gentle motor of the car beneath me was the only noise. I was drawing a Pokémon of mine, Pachole (my favorite), when the car hit a bump in the road. The pencil shot up across the paper, messing up the eyebrow. Out of frustration, I erased the mistaken scribble, and continued to draw with my pencil. My mom was in the front seat ahead of me, and turned on the radio. I didn't know what it was talking about, but then it switched to a song, so it was okay. The song sang,

"Cuz' baby you're a fiiii-rework! C'mon show em' whaaaaaat you're worth!"

I just mumbled along, as I didn't really know what the words were. As I was mumbling and struggling to draw Pachole and Pacaton, now drawing Pac because they're brothers, a memory suddenly popped into my head, and I stopped drawing. I remembered when me and my cousins were jumping and dancing along to this song in their backyard on the Fourth of July. I was about five years old, so it was about three years ago. The recording of it was nowhere as fun as it was in person, but it was still funny.

I then remembered it'd been a long time since I've seen them, like a year! Or that's what it felt like. I looked in the mirror, seeing only my mom's forehead. I opened,

"Mommy?"

She glanced into the mirror to meet my eyes, a glare of afternoon sunlight reflecting from it and streaming onto my armrest. Her eyes met the road ahead as she replied,

"Yeah?"

"When are we going to see Yeptin, Jasper, and Pintica again?"

She stayed silent, so I asked again,

"Mom?"

"Probably not for a while, Neph-"

I gave her a confused look. I stuttered,

"W-what do you mean?"

"You won't be seeing them for a while."

"Why? What's wrong?"

I saw her shoulder lift up and her elbow peek around the side of the seat, showing she rubbed her chest for some reason. I also thought I saw some dark purple slime drip from her face.

"Nothing's wrong.."

"Then why can't we see them?"

"I.. don't know."

I stayed quiet and confused. I didn't know if she was just playing around or if she was serious. Did one of them get hurt and needed time to recover?

"Is one of them sick or hurt?"

"No- it's Xell."

"What about him?"

"It's both Uncle Xelphin and Aunt Creisi."

"Okay, what happened?"

"I don't know. We aren't able to see the kids anymore. I can't message Xelphin or Creisi, call them, anything."

"Not even through telepathic picture?"

"Not even that."

"But why?"

"I don't know, Nephali-"

I heard her voice catch as she spoke, still driving. She pulled her wings in toward herself, showing her emotion. She continued,

"Me nor Dad know."

"But Uncle Xell and Daddy are brothers- what about Uncle Orm?"

"Nope."

"Oma and Opa?"

"No-"

"But what am I supposed to do?! They're my best friends!"

Mom took a breath in, a purple glow illuminating the front of the car. The sun had started to set, so it was even more prominent. The two of us just stayed silent the rest of the drive.

I would've added more but I'll save it for new chapters :b
Again, just be aware that these things have happened to me (not the fantasy aspects, you get it. Also a bit dramatized for the story) so please respect this book, it's greatly appreciated :3
