I greedily chomped down on my garlic chips. We decided to do take-away but that wouldn't have stopped me from eating like a starved lion. We were watching a random movie in Veronica's living room. Her dad would be back tomorrow. I knew this because the esteemed Mayor could definitely not miss out on the annual charity gala. Where each year the whole town and more would come together, a different theme each time. And I also knew because Veronica told us.

I had completely forgotten about it, between my mind being very occupied on keeping a straight profile, it slipped my mind. It was going to take place in around three days. This time, the charity gala was going to auction paintings and I was supposed to put mine up. The one I had forgotten to paint. I was nowhere near prepared, I had no dress but at least I had a plus one this time so I didn't have to wander aimlessly.

My parents don't really attend it. Over the years, they only came once, for as long as I was alive at least. And I didn't really want to walk around and greet people with a fake smile on my face, especially with them. I couldn't go with my friends, they had parents to go with. Plus, it would've been weird if I went with them. But now, I at least had someone that would entertain me while I was there.

"So you guys ready for the gala," Ophelia said excitedly. The only reason she loved it was because of the gossip and funny remarks people made about each other. She wasn't a snitch but she pretty much knew everything about everyone. Amina and Ophelia were both the crazy ones in our little friendship group. They were spontaneous and funny. Me and Veronica were usually the rational ones but lately, with these predicaments, I feel like I've joined the crazy side. And I have to say I kind of enjoy it.

"In terms of dresses and shit, absolutely not," Everyone turned to face me, frowning, "And why not?" Amina questioned, frustrated that she didn't know sooner. I simply just shrugged and slowly placed another chip in my mouth, tasting the burst of flavour. Veronica just shook her head.

"Hurry, get up," Ophelia stood up with a determined look on her face, "We're going shopping, baby!" She quickly shooed me off the comfortable couch I was lying on, forcing me to leave the rest of my meal. Like she already knew what was going on, Amina trailed along. Veronica groaned for the hundredth time today. She looked fed up with all the rushing around but I knew she secretly loved it.

"I'll catch up with you guys in a bit. I'm not walking out my house looking like this for the second time," Veronica shouted so we would hear as she made her ways up the stairs, her footsteps hushed by the beige carpet. Meanwhile, I was being pushed through the front doors still in the pajamas Veronica lent us. It was Victoria's Secret and I looked slightly better than I did this morning. Yeah, I don't think being naked would be a look anyway.

"Guys, don't you think it would be smarter if we did this another time. I'm still tired," I remarked pathetically, knowing nothing would change the mind of these stubborn girls. When they set their minds on something, they'd do it with no discretion. Just jumping into it without a plan. It seemed like they enjoyed the recklessness.

"You see, I would let you off if we were under other circumstances," She turned back to face Amina, her eyes sending her a very secretive look. "Basically, the theme is amazing but very hard to find especially in these small hours," That practically cleared up nothing for me, and with both Amina and Ophelia being quite vague, I'd frankly had enough and wanted to get to the point.

"So, what's the fucking theme?" Ophelia's face lit up once I asked. They seemed to like to torment me. Guess they couldn't help themselves and I loved them for it. Even if it was very frustrating at some points.

"Glamour!" Amina screamed enthusiastically, clasping her hands together dreamily. "Like princess glamour? Like Bridgerton type?" Ophelia just hummed in response. It was honestly one of the best themes ever but very difficult to dress for and I suddenly regretted forgetting about it. You couldn't just order a glamorous dress or pick one up from the mall without it looking tacky. It had to be tailored because everyone there could weed out the fake ones.
