It was one in the morning and I couldn't sleep. Whether it was because I wasn't tired or my anxiety I didn't know.
Getting out of bed, I grab my phone and head downstairs. I had on sweats and a sweatshirt because it was getting colder which cooled our house.
Downstairs all of the lights were off beside the oven light. I liked when it was dark so I kept it off and went to the coffee maker. I made some hot chocolate and put two ice cubes in the cup, slowly sipping it.
There were dragging footsteps and I knew it was Logan, he'd always dragged his feet. When he saw me he nodded his head, "Iris,"
"Hi, Logan. What are you doing up?" I asked wrapping my hands around my cup. He looked at me raising his brows before getting a cup, "I could ask you the same thing."
I shrugged, "Can't sleep." We sat in silence for a few minutes, both just drinking our drinks slowly.
Logan had gotten a glass of whiskey and was taking little sips of it, staring into his cup absentmindedly. He was most likely thinking about his wife, she passed last year in an accident. Her name was Penny and she was the sweetest woman and was more of an aunt figure in my life. I knew not to ask because he gets all sad and then it ruins his mood so I kept the silence going.
"So what about Lily?" Logan asked, breaking the silence a few minutes later. "What about her?"
"Well, I heard that you and Enzo were thinking about some things if you know what I'm talking about. Since she's not really your sister and all."
I shook my head, "No, that's all over. She's our sister and she's staying, we've made up our minds."
He smiled and stood up from his seat, "Well that's good to hear. I am taking a liking to her and you know that I hate kids." he laughed, putting his glass in the sink. I smiled at his words happy that he liked Lily, she could be a bit much sometimes.
"She's family now, she's staying," I said getting it into my head that I wanted her to stay. Logan nodded his head saying a quick goodnight before going back to bed.
I sat still in my seat, thinking about Logan's words.
He actually liked Lily.
He didn't even like me or Enzo when we were kids, he told our parents he was quitting when he found out my mom was pregnant with me because he couldn't handle another kid running around the house. My parents got him to stay and look at him now, being bossed around by the kids he saw growing up.
I put my cup in the sink and went upstairs to my room. It was now one-thirty in the morning and I still wasn't tired. I heard my brother's door close and peeked my head out to the hallway, he was walking towards the stairs. "Enzo?" I asked, walking outside. He turned around and furrowed his brows, "Hm?"
"What are you doing?" I asked, seeing him dressed in casual clothes. He looked at his clothes before looking back at me, "I was going to go the bar, I can't sleep. Want to go?"
"Sure, I haven't slept. Let me get ready." I smiled, opening my door. "Don't take too long," he replied before going downstairs.
I went to my closet and got a pair of ripped blue jeans and put them on. They were loose fit at the bottom which I liked, it was comfortable. I wore a black tight shirt to match the pants and Enzo's black jacket. His clothes were much more comfortable than mine so I stole them all of the time.
I went to the bathroom and grabbed a small makeup bag and a brush. I put simple makeup like mascara, highlight, and blush and put it in my bag to do my makeup in the car. Last, I grabbed my phone and gum and made my way to the living room where Enzo was waiting.
