The Girl They Raised.

She was four, maybe five?
Her dad used to hit his wife.
Mum too, fought with all her might,
Completely ignoring their daughter's fright.

Dad mended his ways,
Became the better version he is today.
She's proud of him dare she say,
But flashes of the scenes haunts her till date.

Mum left no stone unturned,
In pushing him back to cold and unconcerned.
Though his melody won over her beating drums.
"Change for the better" , a lesson she never learned.

They still fight at the same rate,
No physical violence but mental deterioration, for the girl they raised.
Oh look what they've gifted her for 5760 days:
Panic attacks and Anxiety, every step of the way.

"I still love you" , she says.

I still love you.
