"Amethyst Marie Gemstone where have you beenpall this time?" The red-headed queen asked.
"Nowhere mother," I said taking my shawl off.
"Well you must've been somewhere you have dirt on your butt." My mother said.
"I was reading and walking when I found a tree with the perfect amount of shade. I'm sorry I should have brought something to lie down on the ground. I didn't know how to get back but that ninja boy Jonathan had been watching me and brought me back. And what happened to that being no way for royalty to speak?" I explain. Questioning her choice of the word butt.
"I thank you so much, young man. I fear what would happen if you hadn't taken such an interest in my daughter. In speaking on that I had an idea to end this stupid war. Darling, I am the Queen I want someone to try to put me in my place." My mother said while rolling her eyes.
"All right Mother that's enough. Let the boy get home it's getting dark." I say trying to get Jonathan out of the castle before my Father returns.
"Again ma'am it's no problem she is the only interesting part of my day."
"You always have been quite clumsy. Oh, dear are you all right?"
"Yes, Mother. I'm fine. I'm much stronger than I look."
"All right then. Go to your room. Your lady-in-waiting will be up in a moment for your clothing."
"Yes, ma'am goodnight."
"Goodnight my darling."
Upstairs I changed into my nightgown. Sitting at my vanity combing through my hair, there was a tap on my window.
I set my comb down and rushed to my window. Was it 8:30 already? I opened the window and in stepped a 5'10 ninja with jet-black hair and a caramel complexion.
"Well hello princess."
"Well if it isn't my favorite ninja," I said sitting back at my vanity.
"Hopefully your only ninja," he said with a stern look.
"Of course."
As he brushed my hair I noticed a small bump forming on my forehead. I closed my eyes and then opened them. There we go, problem solved.
"I never really noticed how beautiful your hair is."
"Oh really. You think so?"
"Yeah. Were you born with it?"
"If you're talking about the color then yes. I was born with a head full of hair black on the bottom and pink on the top. My hair was so light it looked gray with pink ends. My school life was pretty much set, I would be an outcast. So they keep me on the castle grounds and my tutor lives here in the castle. I had never stepped out of the castle grounds, until that day. The day I met you." I said giving him a weak smile, tears forming in my eyes.
"Amy." He whispered.
He wiped the falling tear from my face, pulled me close, and said "It's okay I'm right here. You don't have to cry. Do you remember the promise we made?"
I hiccuped, sniffled, sat up straight, and began to recite the promise we made seven years ago.
"Together we stand, united we fall. I Princess Amethyst Marie Gemstone promise to always be there for my friend Jonathan Arrow Taniguchi through it all. Forever and always no matter what."
