**Chapter 4: Veiled Truths and Embraced Love**

**Arohi's POV...**

After ensuring everyone was asleep, I returned to our room, or rather, mine and Adi's room. As I entered, memories flooded back, especially the night we first came home after our marriage. The room held echoes of a time when everything was perfect. My eyes fell on the photo frames beautifully adorning the table and walls. I picked up one with a picture from the night Adi proposed. The beach, the candles-it was all so vivid in my mind.

I found myself lost in the frame, reminiscing about the days we were together to be honest Adi you are the biggest risk I have ever taken in my life and career both and I never regretted even once and I am sure I will never regret it in future too... It was then I heard the bathroom door open. Adi emerged, oblivious to my presence, his expression revealing he didn't expect me here. Despite the tension, I tried to ease the atmosphere with a casual greeting.

"Why are you here? I thought you were gone," he said, his attention elsewhere, not acknowledging me. It hurt, but deep down, I understood I deserved this.

"Adi, I know you're upset with me, but please give me a chance to explain myself," I pleaded, hoping for an opportunity to clarify.

"Yeah, sure. Dating another man in New York, and today I see you in a burkha. After all this, you need another chance? Go ahead, I'm all ears for your fake stories, just like the ones you've been telling since the beginning," he retorted, each word piercing through my heart.

"Adi, please, for the last time. I promise not to lie, but give me a chance to explain. I love you, and I want our relationship to work. I can't bear to see it shatter like this," I implored, but he remained unwilling to understand.

"Yeah, and that's why you disappeared for these many years, with that person. I get it. I know he must have left you, so you're back here," he replied angrily, expressing the hurt I had caused him.

"No, it's not like that. Adi, I have only ever loved you. There is no other person in my life."

"Then what was that? I saw you with that person twice, and today again," he accused.

"The person you saw was Kabir, my partner. He is married; trust me, it was all just for work."

"Really? Can you please tell me what kind of work requires you to roam like this with a man?" he asked, his anger escalating.

"That's what I want to tell you. Please give me one chance. I promise I won't lie. Please trust me," I begged, finding him slightly calmer.

"Yeah, and that's why you lied about being a software engineer. Actually, I am an Indian RAW agent," I revealed, shocking him. To solidify my claim, I showed him my official ID card.

"So your real name is not Arohi?" he said, sadness evident in his voice.

"No, my real name is Maya Singhania," I confessed.

"And the person you saw with me is Kabir, my field partner. We were keeping an eye on a terrorist, so whatever you saw wasn't true. In fact, he is married and has a son," I explained.

"It is true that I did not come here for Veer's marriage, but it is true that I have stayed here only for you," I declared, emphasizing the reality.

"I came here for three terrorists, and yes, I was going to leave. But when I saw you out there, I realized that I can't run away from this anymore. I need to tell you the truth. That's why I took special permission from my boss. Until now, only my parents knew my truth, and now you also know it. But you need to promise you won't tell anyone because it's not about me; it's about our country," I explained, hoping he understood.

"I seriously can't believe this," he replied, still in disbelief.

"It means your parents are also not dead; they are alive?" he asked, recalling the lie I had told him earlier for their safety.

"They are alive," I confirmed.

"And you will still say the same? See, this is for their protection; no one should know about them," I requested, and he nodded in agreement.

Then, a deep silence enveloped us.

"By the way, what about those terrorists?" he finally asked after a few minutes, breaking the awkward silence.

"I killed them; they are dead," I confessed, leaving him stunned.

"I can't believe the girl I thought to be the sweetest and simplest can be a RAW agent," he said, chuckling. I couldn't discern whether he was convinced or not.

"Adi, I have always and only loved you. Can we give one more chance to our relationship? I don't want us to be like this," I pleaded, taking his hand in mine, trying to convince him. At first, he remained silent, but then he stood up and stood in front of me. He bent a little, placing a kiss on my forehead-a moment I had been waiting for a long time.

"Thank you," I reacted.

"It's okay. It wasn't your fault. I should have trusted you. After all, whatever you did was for our country," he said, melting my heart.

"It wasn't your fault too. I should have told you the truth earlier, but I didn't want to put your life at risk," I replied, a tear falling from my eye. He made me look at him and wiped away the tear.

"It's okay. I'm proud of you," he replied, and with that, all the wounds in my heart healed. After years, we shared a warming hug 🤗.

**Aditya's POV**

The next day, once again she was gone. But this time, when I awoke, she lay beside me, peacefully immersed in slumber - a serenity I had never witnessed before. We shared breakfast together, and then a car arrived to pick her up, spiriting her away.

The subsequent day, television news highlighted the capture of several terrorists from the parliament, thwarting their plans for a bomb blast. In that moment, my heart swelled with pride, having known her true identity before the news broke. Shortly thereafter, she messaged me, announcing her return as her mission concluded, and she obtained leave for a few days.

"Welcome back, my courageous wife," I greeted her upon returning from the office. She sat on the bed, drying her hair. Her arrival had been only a few hours prior.

Her face lit up with a radiant smile as she saw me, and she rushed into my arms for a warm hug.

"So, you've finally got some time off?" I inquired as we parted from the embrace.

"Yes, finally," she exclaimed with joy.
