The night of the flying car incident was a complete mess. Harry told me they got caught by Snape and that he was threatening to expel them but McGonagall let them go with a few detentions.

Defense Against the Dark Arts was, by far, my least favorite subject. The professor was Lockhart and he was a slimy, self-centered git, in my opinion. He would spend most of class talking about himself and bragging about all of his accomplishments instead of actually teaching us anything.

One particular class though, Snape accompanied him. We were going to be learning how to disarm and stun an enemy.

Lockhart first challenged Snape, who obviously won, then told us that he'd have two students duel next. He chose Harry and Ron, but because of the broken wand, Snape encouraged Lockhart to have Draco Malfoy be the one to duel.

They both stood on the platform and stared at each other intensely. "Scared, Potter?" Malfoy asked snobbishly.

"You wish," Harry replied without wavering.

Draco threw a spell that caused Harry to fly back quickly before getting up and throwing a spell back making Draco do the same. Then Malfoy used a spell that spawned a snake right in front of where I was standing. It looked me dead in the eyes before turning its head back to the boy standing next to me.

Then the entire class turned their heads toward Harry, who was now speaking to the snake. I assumed it was Parsleongue because it appeared that the snake was understanding everything he was saying, and everyone else heard Harry whispering and hissing.

Snape then made the snake disappear and gave Harry a concerned glare. Class was then dismissed.

Harry, Ron, Hermione, and I rushed to the common room and asked Harry about his talents.

"I didn't know you spoke Parseltongue," I told Harry. "Why didn't you tell us?"

"What?" He questioned.

"Parseltongue is the language of snakes," Hermione informed him. "It's a very rare gift. Do you know why the Slytherin house animal is a serpent? It's because Salazar Slytherin was a Parselmouth."

"What if you're the heir of Slytherin?" Ron asked with fear in his voice.

"I'm not, I couldn't be."

"Salazar lived over a thousand years ago. For all we know, you could be." The comment seemed to make chills run down all four of our backs.

That night I couldn't sleep. My mind was filled with thoughts about Harry being the heir, about Harry petrifying Filch's cat, and about how much I missed my family already.

I decided to take a stroll around the school since I wasn't going to fall asleep anytime soon. I was wandering the halls when I heard an odd noise coming from the walls near the bathroom. I was planning on investigating the sound when a familiar blond boy stepped right in front me.

He put his hands on my shoulders and turned me so that I was facing away from the bathroom. "Close your eyes," He told me with sternness.

"Wha-"

"Now!" I closed my eyes quickly for a second before opening them slightly to see why Draco told me to do so.

"Keep them closed!" He seethed. I noticed his eyes weren't close and he was looking down at me.

"Why?" I ask. Why did he want me closing my eyes but didn't even do it himself? And why was I listening to him? I opened my eyes a little to see that his eyes were now also closed. I closed mine again.
