"Debra Anderson? He's a healthy baby boy," the doctor announced, baby in arm. Debra reached her hands out, gesturing for the doctor to hand her baby over.

"What will his name be?"

There he was. The father. Daniel Anderson.

You both discussed this, but didn't officially decide.

"Shawn," the mother said, love pumping in her pupils as she gazed at her first born. Her eye bags clearly had been showing, yawns coming time after time, hardly giving the lady a break.

"We've got to take the baby back for a checkup." The voice came from a nurse this time. Debra nodded, handing her precious care package back.

For some reason, Debra couldn't sit still. Her mind was racing. Hallucinating if you must. She hadn't slept in over 24 hours while she was in labor. But, something lingered just under her nose.

Smoke?

Then the hospital collapsed into a panic. An explosion erupted somewhere in the building. Fire alarms pulled, nurses running every different direction, evacuating patients. She even saw her child being rushed away.

Nobody came for her though. Nobody. Not even her husband. She hadn't even seen him.

Debra was in a panic, she couldn't move, her legs numb from whatever shit they put her on. This was it. She was never going to see her son grow up. This was her end.

She had sent her blessings to her family, vision blurry with tears. Head dizzy with fear, worry, and sorrow. She felt the boiling heat of the fire. Then, head-splitting darkness.
