*A/N his haircut but jet black color*
I woke up to my alarm at 4:30am. Groaning I rolled over and smacked it successfully shutting it up. I jump out of bed and went to the bathroom. Once I finish brushing my teeth I walked back into my room to search through my closet. In the end I decide on black ripped jeans with a plain white hoodie and a black leather jacket. For shoes I just threw on black high tops. I grabbed my bag and run down the stairs. Mom had a plate of waffles on the bar for each of us. I sat between Ginny and Austin. "Thanks mom." I said before I started devouring my food. Well mom says I devour it but I'm just a growing teenage boy. After we got done eating mom drove us all to school. She drops Ginny and I off first. But Ginny makes her stop on the side of the building. I have some classes with her since I'm smarter than average. When we got to our first class AP English the teacher was implying that we couldn't keep up. And once Ginny showed me the syllabus I realized why. "I know it's our first day back from summer vacation but I thought it was a wonderful opportunity for a pop quiz. Those of you who didn't do the summer reading of the crucible are in for a world of pain." Then he paused for a second before adding "Uh don't worry Virginia, Dallas I don't expect you to have read it. I raise my hand. "Uh yes you have a question?" "There are 16 books on this syllabus." "Yes like I said you can always drop down.." "Fourteen are written by men." Ginny adds. "Fifteen are written by white people." I add. "And we'll guess the one black author will crop in just in time for black history month. Are we right?" Ginny continues. "Excuse me?" The teacher asks. "We're very serious about our education Mr. Gitten." Ginny said. "We're worried we might internalize an ideology that the main viewpoint". I continue. "The viewpoint worth studying in class, the viewpoint of the greats". Ginny clarifies. "Is only that of the white male thus eradicating our voices as immaterial." I add. "And finally we're worried we won't be stimulated intellectually." Ginny replied. "Also we have read the crucible and we're confident we can take the pop quiz today." I finished our big speech. "Are you through Virginia, Dallas?" "No please call us Ginny and Dally." "Well I don't know how things were done in your last school Ginny, Dally, but here, we don't tolerate political outbursts and grandstanding at the expense of your peers' class time". A girl next to Ginny raises her hand. "Yes Maxine?" "Hi I'm, like also super concerned about my subconscious digestion of the superiority of the white male perspective. Also I have period cramps so can I go to the nurse?" I think I like her. "OK that's it for the rest of the class we will be silent and take the pop quiz. It's worth 10% of your first semester grade." After class I was at my locker when the boy from across the street came to my locker. "Hi your new right? Just moved across the street?" Ignoring his questions I looked at his shirt and said "It's Monday." "What kind of culture wasteland are you from? Never heard of the band Wednesday?" Sighing I replied "I'm not dumb. I know that's not a real band." "You're right I just grabbed the first shirt I saw. By the way I met your mom last night." I cringed. "She can be very friendly." "She asked me for weed. She wasn't that friendly." I cringed again. "Yeah she can also be kind of a bitch." Ginny and Maxine showed up out of nowhere. "Be gone Marcus." Maxine said sounding annoyed. "Sorry about Marcus he's an asshole." "Yeah, total asshole." I reply. "Yeah, he's my twin brother." She replied. "Oh I'm sorry." I replied. "No I'm sorry I should have strangled him with my umbilical cord in the womb and done humanity a solid. "Are you coming?" She asked walking towards the cafeteria. Ginny had walked ahead of us so she couldn't hear us. "So where are you from?" Max asked. "Texas." "Texas. That's so exotic. Are you straight?" "What?" "Gay, straight, them, they? Do they even let you be gay in Texas? I looked around to make sure no one was around. "Um you can't tell anyone but I'm gay. I still haven't figured out how to come out yet." "Don't worry. What about your sister?" "As far as I know she's straight." "Ugh! That's such a bummer. There are no good gays here." By that time Ginny fell back in step with us again. "You'll love my friends. OK?" As soon as she said that we came upon a table with 2 girls and 3 boys. "So that's Nora, that's Jordan, Brody, that's Hunter and this is Abby. Guys this is Ginny and her brother Dally. They're my new neighbors. They're from Texas. I'm in love with her so you need to worship her and be nice." "Howdy." Ginny says seeing all eyes on her. "Howdy. God! I love southern accents. Like you could say the nastiest shit and it would still sound all sweet and charming like you were offering lemonade. Like," Then Max changed to a terrible southern accent. "I'll cut your face! See it's still charming." She then reached towards Ginny. "Your skin is flawless. Do you jade roll?" Just before she could touch her Ginny flinched back. "Oh, sorry. Is that like when white girls touch black girls hair? If I'm being a dick it's 'cause we have more Starbucks than black people. Why'd you move to Wellsbury?" "Um our stepdad died." Ginny replied. "Well how'd he die?" Max asked. "Car accident." Ginny said in monotone. "Well technically heart attack then car accident." I piped up. "That's horrible. Was anyone else hurt? Was he on the highway? Was he on a motorcycle? I saw the most gruesome motorcycle accident one time. Guys arm was literally four lanes from the rest of him." With that I stopped her because I could tell Ginny was getting tense probably imagining that guy as her dad. "Can we talk about something else please?" I asked. "Oh I didn't mean to bring up painful memories for you. I love all that gruesome shit, you know? I'm so morbid. I've seen every episode of SVU, and I only listen to podcasts about girls like me getting brutally murdered. Want some yogurt? "Uh." Was Ginny's reply. "No thank you." Was what I mumbled. "Your right the food here is crap. Let's sneak off campus and get some tacos." As we were walking down the street the girls were chatting. "Everyone here is just so happy." Ginny said. "It's a front. They're all miserable. Everyone's just slowly marching inevitably and irrevocably closer to death. Also I saw Hunter checking you out earlier. It was very cute." Was Max's reply. I gagged lightly. Then Ginny came to a stop. "Ginny?" Max asked while I just looked up to see what she was looking at. When I saw it I just scoffed. Of course we've been here for less than 24 hours and she's already throwing herself at men. I just tuned everything out until I was being dragged away. Max invited us to her house and I was practically dragged over. I just want to go home. So while Max went downstairs to get sodas I wandered over to Marcus's room. I knocked on the door. After a minute he opened the door. "Hey could I hangout with you? The girls are boring but they won't let me leave." He chuckled and let me in. "I have to go get something. I'll be right back." He said before leaving the room. He came back a couple minutes later with a bag of weed. "Do you smoke?" He asked me. "Yup." Is all I said. We just layed in his room smoking for a bit when he suddenly turned to me. "What's your sexuality?" He asked me. "Gay but I'm not fully out yet." I replied. "Why?" "Because I wanted to see if it was safe to do this." He replied before leaning forward and smashing his lips on mine. We made out for a couple minutes before there was a knock on his door. I hesitantly pulled away from the kiss as we put out our blunts. After a minute he yelled "What?" "Do you know where Dally is?" Max asked through the door. I leaned in and kissed him again before I went to the door and opened it. "Sup?" I asked. I was hella high. "Come on Ginny's been looking for you." We went back into Max's room and once Ginny caught my eye she groaned. "Seriously? I thought you stopped?" She asked me. "I needed to relieve my stress. We all have our ways." I said giving her a pointed look. We had to share a room ever since Austin was born so one time I accidentally walked in to Ginny self harming. A couple weeks later she walked in on me stealing weed from our mom's stash. Max grabbed some eye drops from her desk and held them out to me. I used them then I asked "Can I go home now. I have a stash of Hot Cheetos waiting on me. And no Ginny get your own." Without even waiting on a reply I left and started towards our house. Once I got inside mom saw me. I went up to my room.
