And then, he kissed me. He kissed me with all the power he could muster, making up for all the years, months, weeks, days, minutes, seconds our chapped lips hadn't been touching. And finally, finally, it felt like my world was no longer burning around me Unknown

Mom used to call her Pippi Longstocking.

She doesn't look like Pippi Longstocking. Her face isn't splattered with a mess of brown-freckles, and her hair isn't the color of a fire, and she doesn't have two buck-teeth that stand out when she smiles. Sometimes, though, she'll weave her hair into long, thick, braids. She'll knot them at the end with a purple-colored hair-tie, and they'll end at the bottom of her ribcage, and she'll take a sigh of relief, because the tangle of locks is out of her face. She remembers how Mom ran her slender-finger down the braid, and she chuckled, and she called her Pippi Longstocking. Who's Pippi Longstocking, she asked, and Mom went the farthest-end-of-the-earth to retrieve a tape of the movie, so she could see the ginger-haired, freckle-faced girl with the braids that hung in the air. It's more than the braids, though, Mom said. You're fun, like Pippi Longstocking, Mom said. Is she? That made her smile.
