Mick chases the blobs on the radar, desperate, not taking the time to see if Jed is okay. He will when it's over. He'll be alright. He can have the best doctor in the country if he needs it.
Mick just needs to catch them first. One. At least one of them will set he and his family up for life. He can't let himself miss the opportunity.

"No!" he growls, banging his palm against the radar. He cuts the engine and slows to a stop, looking out at the jostling water. How could they have just.... vanished?
He looks at the beach, not too far from where he stopped. And then the idea hits him.
He leans forward and squints at the sand.
Would they do it? Would they really go on land to avoid him? He turns the key in the slot, a smile spreading on his face.
They're smarter than he thought.
