Ian's POV

"Is is recording now?... Wait...", I began to fiddle with Tripp's camera, "Just a minute...", he hastily replied and continued with his call. I huffed but obeyed and analyzed the frame making sure it was properly covering the intended scenery. The smile on my face was a perfect validation. I rushed over to grab my guitar excitedly and made my way to settle on a rock by the cliff.

There was yet another smile as I admired my same old guitar. It was painted and doodled leaving no trace of the wood beneath. My mom was something else.

"I'm back!", Tripp cheered shoving his phone back into his pocket. I sighed giving him a glare, "If there is one more call, you are going to hell!", I warned watching him raise his hands in defeat mouthing a quick sorry earning a chuckle from me. He quickly went over to the camera adjusting it one more time, "Are you ready?", he asked with a smile. I smiled back giving him a thumbs up. He hit the record button and went over to hold the mic carefully ensuring neither he nor the mic were on frame.

"Hello my beautiful people! We are back at Marin headlands! And wow is it a crisp morning! The skies are clear and the summer vibe is at it's finest! I literally cannot wait for fall! There will be a camping vlog, you have my word travelers! I just need to make new friends. Anthony is always freaking busy and Quinn is worse. But Tripp, well, he pretends he is busy even when he isn't".

"Hey!"

"I speak the truth! Hush now, don't ruin my vlog! Anyways. My guitar is ready and my spirits are high! But before I present to you my new song, I want to wish everyone... HAPPY TANABATA! You thought I'd forget? Never! This is what, my fifth year? And I'm still somehow single every year on this day... okay fine, I just haven't found 'the one'. Japan will have to wait one more year. I will stick to my word and not go to my dream place, unless I meet the right person. So cross your fingers for me".

"I recite the story of the festival every year solely for my new followers. And this year, I'm not changing the tradition. So sit back and relax while I take you on a memorable tale!"

"Tanabata is a beautiful and lovely Japanese festival. Also referred to as the star festival, it originates from a Chinese folklore, a love story between the stars Altair and Vega. So the story goes like this. Princess Orihime, the daughter of the God of Heavens was a seamstress who wove the most beautiful clothes by the heavenly river which is nothing but the Milky Way. She was however, very lonely and sad. For his loving daughter he adored so dearly, the god of heaven decided for her to meet Hikoboshi who was a cow hearder on the other side of the Milky Way. They fell in love instantly and married. But their love was too devoted for one another that they abandoned their duties".

"This upset and angered Orihime's father who separated the two lovers but since he loved Orihime so much, he allowed them to meet only once a year provided they both get back to their duties. The 7th day of the 7th month in the lunar calendar".

"On their first year, Orihime was met with a crisis. The Milky Way was too difficult to cross. Her grief was blessed with a flock of magpies that formed a bridge guiding her across the river to be with her loving husband. But when it rains, the magpies don't come to her aid. So whenever it rains, that year, the two lovers cannot meet. People pray and hope for clear skies on that day. If it rains on the day of Tanabata, it is assumed to be the tears of the lovers who cannot meet each other that year".
