The next day I decided to pretend nothing happened, I absolutely couldn't continue to bandage my head unnecessarily compared to a still unidentified being who believes he can have absolute control over me.

Obviously during the day I kept thinking about everything that had happened the days before, but I simply avoided putting myself in danger to try to get the attention of someone who maybe wasn't even interested.

With a nice herbal tea in front of me, half my body under the covers, and a nice book resting on my legs, I decided to dedicate an entire afternoon to myself. The book, of course, was about the paranormal, more specifically the world of vampires, werewolves, witches, and so on and so forth.

Honestly, the things I've read haven't moved anything in particular, whether it's fear, nervousness or something else. It was as if I had surrendered to the fact that nothing was the same now, that I am in constant danger, that I will no longer live with the same tranquility as I once did. By now my tranquility has surrendered to the present.

What can I do now?

I placed the book on the cabinet next to the bed, put myself totally under the covers, tried to cradle myself with their warmth, I needed protection, and whoever was supposed to give it to me was now gone. Without thinking too much, I let myself go into a long and refreshing sleep.

The following days passed peacefully, with various oddities, but nothing striking, and not even a shadow of him.

"Of course not being able to take walks in the woods anymore because someone might kill me isn't exactly nice, especially when it was a routine for you, but you know what? I don't care, I'll go anyway, but not with the intention of to see him, but with the intention of reassuring me, of returning to find peace among the chirping, the rustling of the trees, the squirrels jumping from tree to tree.. I miss all this deeply" without thinking too much, I got ready to go out and I entered the woods, but I had promised myself to stay close to the exit.

I brought a book with me, I held it tightly in my arms, at every step I heard the sound of stones, crushed branches and every now and then I saw a few chestnuts here and there.

I sat down on a boulder and started reading the book, but with an unpleasant feeling, as if someone were watching me.

As an instinct every now and then I looked up, but there wasn't a hint of anything strange.

3 hours passed, all busy reading and contemplating that beautiful place that every now and then left a shiver down my spine. But it was too quiet to be true.

I heard a loud noise above me, I raised my head, but the person was already in front of me, furious.

"I thought you spoke my language" the boy says staring into my eyes.

"Listen, even though I've already told you the reason why I won't listen to your complaints, I'll add more. In the meantime, this is my little place, and you can't take it away from me, secondly, I still don't understand what interests you." I ask crossing my arms.

"I'll answer your bullshit. This isn't your safe place anymore little girl, if I wasn't here all the time you'd already be in the mouth of some werewolf."

He was here with me all the time and I didn't even see him.

"But why, what leads you to do this, what is the reason that leads you to be so attached to me?" I ask exasperated.

"It's none of your business, instead of complaining you should be grateful to me."

"Tell me what you are" I had to know.

"I am what you think I am, that blood eating monster, but we are not as we are described, we are protectors of our territory, we are civilized if we may say so, we do not feed on human blood, so you need not be afraid of me".

He replied calmly, as if he hadn't just told me he was a vampire and as if he hadn't destroyed any credibility in the world.

Our conversation was interrupted by an attack from behind the boy by a huge animal.

"Oh God..." came out of my mouth almost like a whisper.

I was seeing the boy on the ground writhing against the huge beast, which was objectively getting the better of him.

What can I do? Can I help him? What I do..

A thousand questions in his head, and his eyes wander looking for something to throw or hit him with.

A huge stone at my feet, how did I not see it.

My hands and legs were shaking, I sighed heavily, perhaps I didn't even realize what was happening to me.

I threw the rock and hit the beast, which turned on me, and snarled at me. The vampire used this moment to inflict the damage that would eventually kill the wolf, a bite to the neck.

With the animal lying dead on the ground, the boy wiping the blood from his mouth, I sought support for my back in a tree and slowly slipped to the ground letting myself go into a liberating cry.

Out of breath the boy slowly approached me, lifted my face with two fingers, and looking into my eyes he said :"Do you understand why I don't want you to come here? I have to protect you from all this" at first I didn't take into account his words, especially since he almost died and I had made an adrenaline-pumping gesture that could potentially have killed me.

"What is your name?" you ask as I wiped away my tears.

He sighed, hesitated to tell me but gave up "Aaron".

Strange name for a vampire, I immediately thought.

"Now I'll take you home Camilla" he began out of nowhere, taking me back in his arms like a bride. I let myself go to his touch, in a blink of an eyelid I arrived in my room, obviously from the window.

"I know it's weird, but I'd like to understand a little bit about you," I said to Aaron.

"You don't know what you want to get into, you don't know how much you risk even just knowing me" he replied lowering his gaze.

"I'm ready to take the risk."
