From what Ash had learned about the death of Aiden, she understood that Aiden died a painful death. According to the rumors buzzing around school, Aiden was seen gruesomely injured after the fireworks went off. She was still alive then, and the ambulance coming to pick her up after 911 was called was on their way.
News spread quickly. Almost everyone had heard the fireworks, some of them even seeing it. Ash was apart of the former group. When she heard the blast go off, she had not seen anything and thought it had been a gun being fired.
Soon enough though, Ash had opened up people's stories on Snapchat and found out it was in fact, not a gun, but fireworks that went off.
To say Ash was shocked would be an understatement. Aiden was supposed to go on just fine without her. They should've parted ways and became happy, separately, reminiscing and enjoying the memories they shared together.
But no. Of course this is what happens.
Ash rubbed her hand down her face and sighed. This was her fault and she knew it. Her own stubbornness stopped her from reading that letter until it was too late. She could've done something, but as always, she never knew what to do.
You can't bring back the dead, but there had to be something Ash could do to lessen the guilt on her heart. The itching feeling she had to do something. Anything.
It may have been Aiden's choice to do what she did, but that didn't stop the guilt from eating at her. Aiden would've never made that choice if Ash hadn't been such a coward to not speak to her. Or even glance her way.
Ash should've told Aiden the truth. Maybe then, things would've ended differently..
