Natasha had first suspected that she may be harbouring feelings for her new friend within the first year of the two knowing each other. They'd been friends for about less than two years, and had grown rather close pretty quickly as they had spent a lot of time training together with Clint, Steve, and the twins.
Honestly, Natasha should have realised it sooner as she had began to grow overly protective over the blonde girl.
Tony was throwing one of his usual parties, once again forcing everyone to attend. Natasha sat with Clint, Steve, Tony, Pietro, and Wanda at a booth. Natasha was wondering where her new friend was, she was taking her time.
"Hey guys!" Natasha's head snapped up at the familiar voice, a smile on her face. Rosalie stood, a black satin strapless dress hugging her body and each curve. Her sunshine coloured hair sat in a neat low bun, little wavy strands left out. Her black went perfectly with Natasha's crimson knee length dress.
"Hey Rosie, hey Maya." Wanda smiled, budging up to give the two space to sit down. Natasha's smile dropped; she didn't notice another girl behind Rosalie.
"Who's this pretty lady?" Tony asked, slightly tipsy. A faint hint of blush formed itself on Maya's face.
"You guys haven't met Rosie's girlfriend?" Pietro smirked.
"Pietro! I was just about to tell them!" Rosalie pouted, her accent showing through at Pietro's name.
Girlfriend?
Natasha frowned. She wasn't aware of the girl's relationship. She was hardly aware the girl was fruity, granted they hadn't known each other long enough to know these sorts of details.
Maya was a pretty girl, she had dazzling ocean blue eyes, and had curly cinnamon coloured hair that was left out complimenting her fair skin that easily showed the red of the blush whenever a compliment was shot her way.
"Girlfriend?" Steve asked.
"Guys, this is Maya. We've only been dating for three months." Rosalie finally took her seat next to Wanda, taking Maya's hand in hers as she sat her down beside her.
"Hi, it's lovely to meet you all." Her smile was warm. It held no malice, which made it harder for Natasha to dislike her yet for some reason, a part of her did and she had no idea as to why.
Throughout the night, Maya had involved herself in conversations with the group as they got to know each other better, Natasha sitting quietly as Clint eyed her, asking a silent question, are you okay?
Natasha shrugged it off, and tried to involve herself in the conversations too. It was evident Maya didn't know too much about Rosalie, much less how she got invited to Tony Stark's party and how she knew them.
"Do you want to dance?" Rosalie whispered in Maya's ear.
"No thank you, I'd rather not make a fool out of myself here." she awkwardly chuckled.
"I'm sure you won't, but I won't press."
Natasha eyed the two carefully.
"You know, I didn't properly introduce you to everyone. I kind of just assumed you knew them all!" Rosalie realised.
"I was hoping you would explain!"
"I'd say my bad but they're literally everywhere. You wanna take a bus? Their faces are there on a board, staring at you. Shopping? They're there. Eating? They're there. Going for a jog? They're there. Pooping? They're there." Rosalie had placed emphasis on the final two words.
"I'm sorry, but who has our faces in their bathrooms? Because I need to have a word." Clint's face had twisted into one of disgust.
"Trust me. I've seen it, I had half a mind to jump off a cliff with all of it in my hand. Or maybe I would have just set the entire house on fire! Who knows? It's creepy when you're having a one night stand and you need to go pee and they just have action figures of your friends staring into your soul."
